'they have told me they want to go ahead' or 'we are the favourites for it' Cue the celebrations 🤦🤦🤦 and then 6 weeks later, it's all gone quiet 😢 The 'sales' job isn't done until it's signed, paid for and implemented! I have LOVED having the last three and a half weeks off (and have managed to do some incredible things with the most amazing people) but I’m also really excited to get back to my desk this morning and all the exciting projects I’ve got coming up in September! So far, September looks like; - Working with some epic companies to define refine their B2B sales processes, train salespeople and coach new / existing sales leaders. - Hosting two fabulous in-person events (including The C Suite ® VIP experience and our in-person client day!) - Attending a book launch for an awesome client and celebrating her work - Writing the foreword for another sales leader’s awesome upcoming book (and what a privilege to be asked!) - Our September Sprint for our clients to maximise revenue, improve business development skills and sign more clients! And of course, lots of fabulous sales activity too! 🎉🎉🎉 Remember, September is the BEST time of year for B2B sales - if you use a proper process - so make sure you make the most of it!

It's the Cheltenham Festival 🏇in the UK this week, so here's a story every Sales Leader needs to hear: As an Account Executive, I was fortunate to work for great Sales Leaders who genuinely cared about me and my success. This was a key reason why we won big with our customers. However, across the Tech Sales community, I hear of a minority of Sales Managers taking the opposite approach with Account Executives in their mission to achieve growth. These Managers resort to micro-managing, doubling down on forecasting and inspection, and relying on the mantra of "you should be doing more and more" to achieve better results. My question is: are they getting results, and at what cost? This week, I listened to the final chapters of "What Great Salespeople Do," where Ben Zoldan and Michael T. Bosworth shared a story I can't stop thinking about. The story is about Seabiscuit, the legendary racehorse once considered a lost cause by his trainers. Whip in hand, they sought results through force and coercion, only to be disappointed. But then, a new trainer named Tom Smith entered the picture. Instead of resorting to brute force, Smith unconventionally approached Seabiscuit with empathy and understanding. He recognised the horse's potential and, most importantly, cared for his well-being. Through patience, trust, and genuine concern, Smith nurtured Seabiscuit's talents, unlocking a level of greatness previously thought unattainable. Like Seabiscuit, I've experienced firsthand the transformative power of a manager who invests in their team's well-being. Instead of using pressure as a motivational tool, they cultivated trust and camaraderie, creating an environment where the Account Execs felt valued, supported, and empowered to excel. Ultimately, it wasn't the whip that propelled Seabiscuit to greatness—it was the empathetic approach of a leader who believed in his potential and nurtured it with compassion. Likewise, the best sales leaders I've had the privilege to work with didn't just focus on driving sales—they focused on caring for their team, knowing that genuine care breeds loyalty, resilience, and customer and company success. I'm relieved (for the AEs) that the Enterprise Sales community has many great sales leaders. But if you're one of the minority Sales Leaders who are cracking the whip to get results (and failing). I know it can't be easy an easy job, but take a moment to walk into Account Execs' shoes. Are you managing your team the way you would like to be managed? If not, it's not too late. Three-quarters of the year is left to change things and guide your Account Executives to a great year! 🏇🏇🏇

Do you take time out to celebrate your wins? I am once again having a sort out of all my files and folders on the laptop and adding to the testimonials file. It was great to spend a bit of time and read through them and see how much the I had changed their perception of sales from the thing they knew they needed to do but dreaded most, into something they were actually excited to do and looking forward to. Got me thinking about the joy on someone's face after we have done a session together and talked about what part of selling they don't enjoy and how we can make it easier, whether it is re framing the whole idea of sales or it could be that it is a particular area they have struggled with like trying to handle objections. 🤫 Each person is different, some have had absolutely no sales experience at all and are trying to promote their services with no real knowledge on the best way to present. Others are seasoned professionals who have just needed a refresher with some new techniques and tips that will help them develop their skills. There have also been those with a specific sales issue that we have addressed and worked on until they have felt they could deliver the presentation of their services effectively. Every time, it has been fun and enjoyable to deliver a sales session and each person has been amazing to work with, so today I am going to take a few moments to celebrate my wins.
