Donors don't give to save charities, they donate to the cause. No matter how tough our current environment is in the charity sector, it's vital we don't see donors as simply cash to plug financial gaps. ✨️ Donors are our partners in social change - they want to work with us to create impact.✨️ Contining to focus on deepening relationships, telling powerful stories and communicating impact is the path to sustainable income. #CharitySector #Fundraising #StrategicPartnerships

Dan Pallotta, in his TED Talk "The way we think about charity is dead wrong", argues against conventional attitudes towards overhead costs in charities. He asserts that a focus on minimizing overhead, rather than maximizing impact, hampers the growth and effectiveness of charitable organizations. By applying the principles of capitalism, like investment in advertising and competitive salaries, Pallotta believes charities could achieve greater scale and impact. He illustrates his point with the example of his own fundraising events, which raised significant funds but faced criticism for their overhead costs. Pallotta advocates for a paradigm shift that evaluates charities on their outcomes and not their frugality, to ultimately foster a more profound societal impact. I would love to hear your thoughts, Please share your thoughts, and let's dive into the discussion. Why don't we consider nonprofits as legitimate businesses? In order to scale business, investments must be made, but we don't approve of nonprofits investing in people or marketing or taking the time needed to build capital for making meaningful change. Dan Pallotta makes a compelling case for changing the ways we think about charities in this TedTalk. I am looking forward to his book, Uncharitable and seeing the upcoming documentary, Uncharitable Movie. https://lnkd.in/eHhSSW3J
