The war in Ukraine has made it clear that the battle tank in it's current form is end of life. Lumbering $10M machines that are vulnerable to $900 DJI drones have a serious problem. A mobile direct fire weapon that supports ground operations is still an important part of a modern army but we've seen the vulnerabilities of these vehicles against very smart anti-tank missiles and drones. Any new main battle tank, and supporting vehicles must adapt to the new realities of war. Frequency-hopping drones must be able to detected, tracked, jammed and engaged in real time. Loitering munitions, often autonomous, must be detected neutralized long before they reach their intended target. MANPADS must also be defended against. MBTs must be upgraded to "see" IR, UV, radar, laser, radio, and old fashioned RPGs and react effectively. The Russian tanks are "dumb" jack-in-the-box death traps with shells inside the cabin. They have no defenses against anything other than steel and stolen rugs from Ukrainian babushkas. Russia has no ability to modernize their tanks but we do. AI, machine learning, remote drone pilots can be game changers. Imagine a 5th and 6th operator for each tank. The fifth operator is remote and is immersed in VR, watching all the data coming in from the sensors, even operating a MBT-based drone that acts as a lookout and helps triangulate attackers. The 6th operator is AI. This AI is taking in all battlefield data, public data, satellite data and providing real time intelligence to the 5th operator and the tank commander. The thing is, all of the tech needed to do this is already available. Integrators, IoT thinkers, and military equipment makers need to get together and change the battlefield where once again, Tanks can rule.

Reporters Not Weapon Makers are winning the Stock Market support on the current turbulence around the world ! In the early days of the current Israel – Hamas war, there were speculations that weapon manufacturers will make gains while the war persists. The one company that has risen daily during the last ten market sessions is Thomson Reuters Corp (TRI). Lockheed Martin (LMT), Northrop Grumman Corp (NOC) and General Dynamics (GD) have all declined during the last several sessions.
