This news that Iowa State has a new "Office of Student Information" to support Workday Student is very exciting to me. I think this could be a real model for other schools on Workday Student, as what it takes to support Workday (and many other SaaS products) is different from what was often needed with legacy tools. I appreciated this statement in the linked article: "More than 350 post-implementation projects already have been identified, each with its own degree of complexity and integration with our current systems." This is the reality that the work is on-going and you need to be ready to support it as the implementation partner rolls off the project. I think having a team like this can also work well with the "technofunctional" nature of Workday Student which requires more knowledge of functional and technical work to maximize Workday. I have been thinking a lot about the concept of "Total Cost of Ownership." There are a lot of fantastic benefits of Workday, but I would love to see more information shared about what it's going to take to maintain the system and maximize it. Having an internal support model in place that's ready to go is a critical part of that. #workdaystudent

7,000 SkillsFuture courses will become available for workers over 40 through a SkillsFuture top-up in May. These courses will focus on emerging fields like digital, green, and care economies. However, there's some concern about take-up rate as participation in SkillsFuture-supported courses declined last year, despite more companies sponsoring their workers for such training. In this CNA interview, our very own Deputy President (Industry & Community), Mr Bernard Nee, discusses potential reasons for some not taking up training and the most in-demand areas for workforce development. Some key points he raised were: - The importance of understanding the needs of industry such that learners acquire in-demand skills; - The need to strike a balance between equipping the workforce for the longer term and meeting immediate talent demands in the industry; - To enhance our workforce effectively, upskilling programmes should focus not only on imparting theoretical knowledge but also on developing the practical application of that knowledge. Words matter. Too often in Workday Student conversations I hear miscommunication over terms. I'm constantly asking questions like, "When you said "historical" did you mean a student no longer attending the institution or an actual historical academic record in the Workday Student technical definition which is a student converted as a static text file?" I recommend schools use the Workday Student technical definitions. Here are words I frequently hear miscommunication about: Active/Inactive Cohort Historical Student/Academic Record Conferral Date/Completion Effective Date Go-Live Student Status Any others you would add to the list? If you're a school getting started or are implementing Workday Student already but are not sure about the Workday technical definitions of these terms, let me know and I can provide them to you. #workdaystudent
