ONC 2023 Annual Event Had the honor of participating in a thought-provoking panel: “Using Technology in Behavioral Health from Adoption to Integration: Moving Beyond Disparate Systems” at the 2023 ONC Annual Meeting. The panel was moderated by Donna Davidson, MPH | Policy Coordinator, Interoperability Division, Office of Policy at the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT and included an amazing group of leaders and experts: Michael Lardieri, LCSW, Core Solutions, Inc. Tanzeem Choudhury, PhD, Cornell Tech and HealthRhythms Inc. Melissa Kotrys, MPH, Contexture We focused on successes, opportunities, and challenges related to technology use in the behavioral health setting and the current state of aligning and integrating primary care with behavioral health care including appropriate exchange of health data via a health information exchange (HIE) and identifying and using technology systems for interoperability in a meaningful way We’ve come a long way as a sector but there is still so much to do and continue to work on but looking forward to more of these conversations and leadership from ONC, SAMHSA and so many others. #ONC2023 #interoperability #healthequity

Anyone who has built a conference can confirm, the process is thought, labor, time, and money intensive, with no guarantee of success. Medical event planning can result in triumph or a faceplant. Vision is key to hosting a successful event. Value for participents; value for hosts, and if sourced from the nonprofit sector, potentially value for public health. On Sunday night late, I made the extremely difficult decision to shut WHEN2024 Women's Pelvic Health Expo down due to insufficient registrations. Given how the world is finally starting to talk about women's below the waist health out loud, I was so sure the timing was right for this event. I was WRONG. Spent a day wallowing in anxiety, frustration, and self-pity (man I HATE that) over the failure of a vision that I believed and still believe would be so valuable for women. I've finished mopping up the mess and now I'm nose to the grindstone, pushing the boulder back up the hill. My deepest apologies to anyone who had hoped to attend and hadn't registered yet. We had to do what we had to do to reduce the $$ loss related to hotel deposits that do not get refunded. I want to take a moment to thank the stellar, compassionate woman's health surgeons, physical and other therapists, and nonprofit women's health experts who stepped up to the plate to speak, willing to provide what would have been exceptional content to attendees, as well as to those in industry with like mind. I will #NeverForget your generosity! Reflecting on the World Federation of Hemophilia conference, I'm still pondering its remarkable success 🏆. I've concluded that its distinguishing factor lies in the inclusive participation of all stakeholders in hemophilia treatment and care: doctors, regulators, industry representatives, and patients. 👩⚕️🩺🧍🧍♀️ It's akin to a high-performing team—achieving maximum success requires the incorporation of diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and opinions. Looking back, it's clear that this inclusive ethos was the driving force behind the conference's impact. What's your take on this perspective? 🤔 #WFH World Federation of Hemophilia / Fédération mondiale de l'hémophilie Professional Patient Advocates in Life Sciences (PPALS) #patientadvocacy #patientperspective

Yesterday we joined other patient orgs, patients and stakeholders at the Mobilise-D project-end conference. The day was full of insightful discussions and conversations, and we were especially excited to hear how patient voices informed the project and outcomes. 🔎 Research by the Mobilise-D project used the experiences of patients to understand how walking affects people. They found that walking is more than just physical movement. It is an emotional, social, and physical experience. Read our summary here: https://ow.ly/IuNa50QY7vH 🚶 Our ability to walk can be an indication of how healthy we are. For patients, it can highlight how much their condition is affecting daily life. Physical activity is one of five key pillars in our #HealthyLungsforLife campaign. Learn more: https://ow.ly/Pf1u50QY7vG

💡 If you didn’t get a chance to attend to our webinar on February 13 exploring our fascinating study with Lyssn about the efficacy of #digitalpeersupport, now you can watch it! Togetherall entrusted Lyssn – an objective, unaffiliated third party – to evaluate our online #peersupport community and to describe the prevalence of therapeutic ingredients known to produce positive outcomes in traditional treatment settings. The findings were compelling, especially those highlighting the success of our #TrainedPeers in the #community.
