NineSigma, representing QRDI / Milaha (“QRDI / Milaha”), invites participants to submit proposals for Energy harvesting and charging system for electric harbour craft prize challenge (End of submission on May 23rd). A QRDI / Milaha scientific prize of up to $1,000,000 each will be awarded for up to 5 teams across all 3 challenges, by Q3 2024. Moreover, QRDI / Milaha can potentially support collaborations with one or more of the Laureate teams to develop the selected scientific proposal(s), with the aim to transform them into market-tailored technologies. Exciting update from last week! 🚀 I had the privilege of presenting at the #ATI 2023 conference in the " #Hydrogen production, transport, storage and utilization" session, hosted by Università degli Studi di Modena e Reggio Emilia in the vibrant city of #Carpi. 🎓 I'm truly grateful for the engaging questions from the audience, which added immense value to the discussion. 🙌🤔 Special thanks to Professor Enrico Bocci for their insightful inputs and thought-provoking spunti! 🧠💡 During the session, I had the opportunity to shed light on the water #sono-photolysis, a promising approach that leverages the power of solar light and ultrasound to drive water splitting for hydrogen production. 🌞🔊💧 I'm currently working on this research at Università degli Studi di Perugia, with Professor Franco Cotana and Professor Federico Rossi. SwissTech rocks: Teams from the University of Fribourg, ETH Zurich, and the University of Zurich have each secured a grant of CHF 150’000 as part of the InnoBooster program to advance their solutions. Proposed solutions address challenges in the energy and medical sectors, as well as industry aiming to reduce carbon emissions with novel techniques. SEPARATIC has developed a novel gas separation technology using palladium-coated graphene membranes to capture hydrogen efficiently from purge gases. CellX Biosolutions uses field-based microfluidics, to bring biological solutions to the next level by capturing high-performance bacterial degraders directly in the environments and formulating biosolutions for targeted, sustainable and cost-effective degradation of industrial chemical waste. Founded as a spin-off from Empa and ETH Zürich, BTRY is proposing an innovative all-solid-state battery that can operate across a wide temperature range. Nerai bio has built an AI-assisted high-throughput protein engineering platform to generate new CRISPR-based tools of enhanced performance. Recent studies show, that chances for an individual scientist to be highly disruptive in his field is decreasing (https://lnkd.in/e3n9GNCb). Collectively, however, the overall level of disruption in science — the influence of new findings that tend to overtake previous understandings — is as strong or even stronger than it was in the past. Despite the fact, that each of us has a smaller role in innovation, the upside is that the world of science and innovation is stronger than ever, because it increasingly involves the collaboration of large, diverse and multi–disciplinary teams of researchers. #M3NIR is a project that also benefits from this diverse and interdisciplinary teamwork. Partners from Belgium, Austria, Germany, Greece, Spain, Czechia, Cyprus, Lithuania, and Switzerland bring their unique knowledge to the table. Together, we're working on developing a Mid- and Near- IR multi-sensing platform that can sense a wide range of chemicals in both liquids and gases. Here's what our project aims to achieve: - We're creating a technology platform that can measure various chemicals, whether they're in liquid or gas form. - We're coming up with new sensor approaches to monitor greenhouse gases, detect phosphates and nitrates in water, and even analyze breath for health-related applications. - We're making use of cutting-edge mid-infrared integrated photonic circuits to make our sensors smaller and lighter, so they can be incorporated into a wider range of devices. Elcogen has announced that it has recently initiated a collaboration agreement under the Important Projects of Common European Interest scheme (IPCEI) with the Dutch Organization for Applied Scientific Research (TNO) to develop advanced solid oxide #electrolysis (#SOE) #technology for future market demands.   Elcogen and TNO have been working alongside one another for more than a decade across projects such as NewSOC, CleanHyPro, OUTFOX and PressHyous under the Horizon Europe framework and within the framework of the VoltaChem shared innovation program.   TNO’s ongoing partnership with Elcogen further highlights the joint commitment to rapidly advancing #cleanenergy solutions. Within this new collaboration, key performance indicators have been formulated in relation to the future of solid oxide #stack #efficiency, #durability, #scalability, and overall impact.
