Controlling the Lights… Part II …continued and based on yesterday’s post on the issue of contrast. Yesterday, I showed actual images of a cushion brilliant diamond which was uniquely designed to display a Maltese Cross at its center in its face-up appearance. The left image showed the diamond presenting its Maltese Cross via obscuration of the lights (e.g. contrast), the right image showed what happens when the diamond is tilted by just 7 degrees to capture direct light and reflecting it back to its viewers. Today, I am displaying the diamond in a *virtual fashion.., same exact diamond, same positions translated to HDR lighting mode (top) and in the Angular Spectrum Evaluation Tool (ASET) view (bottom). *The virtual model is based on a 3D scan of the actual diamond cut.
