In #Myanmar on 25 June the Beijing-brokered ceasefire in place since January broke down with the Ta’ang National Liberation Army #TNLA announcing the resumption of Operation #1027 in northern #Shan state. The TNLA stated that military forces had repeatedly violated the ceasefire and prior to the 25 June resumption of clashes, warned that if the violations were to continue, it would resume the offensive. Between 25 and 30 June, the TNLA has seized control of strategic towns including Nawnghkio and Kyaukme. Regime forces are reportedly besieging themselves in Lashio town by destroying connecting bridges while conducting indiscriminate retaliatory airstrikes on civilian areas. 22 civilians were killed between 25 and 30 June in military airstrikes. Cross-border trade with China has not resumed since the January ceasefire. Beijing will likely intervene again, although it appears increasingly frustrated with the junta.

Forewarned is forearmed. With the Biden administration & the media having telegraphed its intention to strike Iranian targets in Syria & Iraq for a week before U.S. retaliatory strikes. How many IRGC/Quds commanders would have been ordered to stand at their posts so they could be killed? Expect light Iranian casualties. Furthermore, what of the legal implications? Biden ordered ‘military operations’ (shades of Putin’s ‘Special Military Operation’ lingo) against Iranian assets because calling for war would mean he’d need Congressional approval. If this action broadens… what will Biden do? And will Congress fall behind their president? So far, 85 targets struck, more may be on the list of places to be bombed. Whack a mole? Hitting evacuated IRGC/Quds bases? We’ll have to wait and see…

From November 2021 to September 2022, rebel activity declined in CAR, suggesting that the counter-offensive by FACA and allied forces made progress in suppressing the CPC. As a result, armed operations conducted by the #WagnerGroup also declined between 2021 and 2022. Some reports indicate that Wagner leadership redeployed mercenaries from CAR to Ukraine in March 2022 to join Russian military forces. However, this downward trend ended in November 2022 with an armed escalation attributed to CPC-aligned rebel groups. Many of these groups began mobilizing again following the killing of Zakaria Damane, a leader of the RPRC, by Wagner in February 2022. These groups had been part of disarmament and demobilization under the leadership of Damane but, following his death, reorganized under the CPC coalition in July 2022. After the regrouping, the rebel offensive resulted in widespread violence in numerous prefectures across the country. Violence peaked in January 2023, with rebel groups attacking critical government infrastructure, including a strategic customs post in Beloko, Nana-Mambere prefecture. THE PROHIBITION OF STRIKES WITH WESTERN WEAPONS ON THE TERRITORY OF RUSSIA ties the hands of Ukrainian defenders! From the point of view of defensive battle strategy, what is happening looks like a bad dream. The more long-range weapons the Ukrainian army receives, the more motives the russians have to shift their focus to Kharkov. Simply because they can easily accumulate troops and attack from the air with impunity. We need to defend ourselves! All military assistance is months late, all political decisions aimed at preserving NATO’s conditional status of non-involving in the war are a compromise with conscience, and this compromise costs thousands and thousands of lives of the Ukrainian people!

There must not be one thing now: Negotiations. The time for relativization and diplomacy is over. The task now is to wipe out Hamas once and for all, to leave no stone unturned, to let no one escape. Times: The West is preparing for the surrender of Ukraine The English newspaper The Times wrote in an article: Western leaders have to evaluate the prospect of the collapse of the armed forces of Ukraine in the conflict with Russia. There is a real danger for Kiev that in the near future Russia may start more decisive actions on the front and many residents of Ukraine may leave the country. This is exactly the nightmare scenario that is now being considered in the West. Events force military and civilian leaders in London, Washington, Paris and Brussels to plan for a catastrophic collapse of Ukrainian soldiers who have lost their weapons and ammunition.

Barroness Cox, Thank you for your public criticism of the actions of the Azerbaijani government lead by Ilham Aliyev. I was part of the OSCE Mission for Nagorno-Karabakh (Minsk Group) in 2013, and have been in all three territories. I feel that if United States does not stand up, Aliyev will continue his genocidal actions. The Russian Federation (RF) has proven to be a poor peace guarantor for Armenians in Nagorno Karabakh, and an even poorer security guarantor for Armenia. Part of this lies in the fact that Azerbaijan is facilitating petrocarbon exchange to Europe for RF, RF sells weaponry to Azerbaijan both creating a much needed revenue stream for RF. Also, Azerbaijan has a part to play in transhipment of goods, fuel and supply from RF to the Iranian ports on the Persian Gulf, including shipments to RF from abroad. This limits the sincerity and effect of the RF's security obligations vis-a-vis protecting the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh and Armenia proper. Turkey, as Azerbaijan's sponsor is a member of NATO... The United States of America is really the only nation that can initiate any actions to stop thus genocide. Europe can help but they offer only hollow words as their true interests lie in Ukraine's natural resources.
Earlier today, I called on the UK Government to use every diplomatic and political option available to protect the people of Nagorno Karabakh, following Azerbaijan's recent military offensives and the potential for further displacement after the ceasefire deal. Watch the Government's completely inadequate response below.

Former US congressman Adam Kinzinger has assessed that Russia is losing its war on Ukraine. He commented in his role as a contributor to the Meidas Touch online news network when asked his opinion about Russia seeking military aid from North Korea and Iran. The US State Department confirms that the weapons Ukraine has received are from an existing arsenal of which are no longer used by the US military. Since the US has lifted a ban on the Ukrainians using the equipment for offensive strikes inside Russia, Ukraine’s chances for defeating the invading Russian army have become more likely. Congress.gov has published the most recent casualty figures. Russia’s military casualties number 300k. Seventy thousand Ukrainian soldiers have been killed with up to 120k injured. Ukraine’s civilian population has suffered under Russian airstrikes, atrocities committed by ground troops and the abduction of Ukrainian children. Image credit: Pixabay Contributor

Article 57(1) of the First Additional Protocol (to the Geneva Convention) states that both parties should give constant care to spare the civilian population and civilian objects amidst belligerent activities. Even though this article is somewhat vague, the practice is that parties to an armed conflict are compelled to regard the effects of their military operations on the civilian population. Far from violating international law, Israel’s calls to civilians to evacuate areas where extensive military operations will occur conform to a state’s obligations under international law to adopt constant care. On the contrary, Hamas’ actions to obstruct and stop the evacuation clearly violate their responsibility to their civilian population. #lawyersforisrael #hamasisisis #hamas #gaza #supportIsrael #israelunderattack

Why #Japanese government show laxity in asking #USA to comply with the information-sharing agreement? Sexual assaults by #US military personnel have seen rapid recurrence in recent months in #Okinawa prefecture, #Japan. Unless corrective measures are made quickly, the anti-U.S. military base sentiment & movement in Okinawa will grow, damaging bilateral cooperation at a crucial time. https://lnkd.in/gexiBPqM
