Always inspiring to join the Innovation Roundtable Summit in Copenhagen. Great networking opportunity and new impulses from fellow-innovators‘ talks. Here are some interesting take-aways from the first of three summit days: 1. Creative Thinking has moved up to No 2 core skills of workers in 2023 (World Economics Forum Report). Creativity consists of 18 individual behaviors and can be learned/trained. 2. Those employees willing to be misunderstood by the organisation over a long time are the ones who can bring real change. (It is much easier to comply to the pressure of the general opinion). Identify those change makers and ask yourself how you will enable those who will drive change. 3. Be firm on the vision but flexible on how you get there. 4. Identify the high priority inno ideas by asking yourself: if I had to think bigger and I would be guaranteed success, what would I do? Which legacy would I want to leave? 5. AI has by now accessed all of the available digital data generated by mankind. Now it will create synthetic data (like entirely AI based films) to continue learning and evolve. Teaching it ethics and training it to self-critique are big topics. 6. one of the core AI topics at present is trying to understand how emergent abilities of AI (developing reasoning type abilities that have not been programmed) have developed. 7. Outcome poll of Inno Roundtable participants: Top 2 priorities for companies in integrating AI: 1) responsibility to business 2) responsibility to workforce To my fellow innovators at the summit: What were your main take-aways so far? Anything to add? Stay curious!

Innovation As a tech person, I often think a lot about the concept of innovation. There are multiple different ways to categorize it, but my preferred method is to classify innovations into three main categories: Data Collection, Data Analysis, and Data Distribution. 1. Data Collection: This category pertains to innovations in how we collect data. Many hardware advancements fall into this category. For example, consider the development of x-ray films, which enabled us to collect data that was previously unattainable. 2. Data Analysis: After data is collected, the next step is to innovate how we interpret it. Much of the AI revolution falls into this category. Returning to the x-ray example, using AI algorithms to examine x-ray films for the presence of cancer is a prime illustration. 3. Data Distribution: The final step involves delivering the collected and analyzed data to customers, and innovation occurs in the methods of distribution. Many successful apps operate in this category. To extend the x-ray scenario, a medical record app that presents your results and facilitates discussions with your doctor(s) is an example. I am not saying this is the perfect or even the best way to look at the innovation, as these three categories do not encompass all forms of innovation and some innovations may span multiple categories. However, this framework helps me assess new innovations in terms of their transformative potential, what their application and market can be, and where I think they must focus their resources on to make the biggest impacts. Personally, my favorite type of innovation is Data Collection, as I believe it presents the most significant challenges but once you get it right the impact can be huge. (This is not to downplay the risks or potential of other types of innovation, of course.) What's your favorite type of innovation, and what kind of innovation are you currently working on? Please feel free to share your thoughts! PS. For personal update as it has been a while and some people were asking, I'm still on the lookout for the next opportunity to bring my talents to drive the next innovation :) Please reach out if you have come across any exciting ideas recently! PPS. Yeah just like you I'm not particularly fond of "food for thought" posts on LinkedIn, but with my Facebook account no longer active and the other popular platforms like X (nee twitter) and Thread do not click well with me, this seemed like the only place to share my thoughts publicly - my apologies 😂

Corporate innovation priority highest in recent history - driven by (gen)AI, whereas the readiness for innovation is amongst the lowest on record @ only 3% (few companies ready for AI @ scale). Corprorate innovation needs a reset.

Approach innovation with the 3W1H (what, who, why, and how) framework, plus a fifth question on weaknesses. It can eliminate shiny pennies and put true innovation in action. For example, it is almost impossible to have an innovation discussion that does not include AI today. However, this is a real challenge for most AI driven innovation at the moment. 'What' is AI actually going to do for your customers and does you company have the capability to implement it? 'Who' is it for and are they really going to use it? 'Why' do they want or need this? The average AI instance requires around $50MM in investment to stand up today, how will we get that done? The weaknesses include people who can actually build and implement. These are all problems that can be overcome but without really answering these questions, AI is a solution looking for a problem vs. the opposite. https://lnkd.in/dv4q2yxu

In today's world, the term "innovation" is often overused and misunderstood. We frequently think of innovation as groundbreaking, disruptive technology, but true innovation usually lies in small, incremental improvements. These are the changes that most employees can contribute to and have a significant impact on. To drive real innovation, companies should focus on identifying problems and finding creative solutions. This could involve simplifying processes, applying AI to reduce complexity and manual errors, or shortening the time required to complete tasks. These smaller improvements collectively make a big difference. Big innovations are rare and often aren't the result of a single person's idea or vision. Instead, the credit usually goes to the person where all the pieces come together. Therefore, fostering an environment where everyone can contribute to continuous, small improvements is key to sustaining innovation in any organization. #innovation

🚀 Vivatech 2024: AI, Sustainability, and a Touch of Clichés Our founder Marie Potel-Saville spent last Friday at Vivatech, one of Europe's largest tech and innovation events. Here's her take! Balancing client meetings, team management, and emergencies is tough, but this event is a must-attend. This year, I focused on learning, spotting new trends, and connecting with peers. Did you know there are over 11,400 startups here? Here are a few innovations that caught my eye, as an impact founder: 🤖 BLUE FROG ROBOTICS 🤖: An AI-powered companion for hospitalized kids, neurodiverse kids, and the elderly. Initially skeptical about the "tech-solves-it-all" approach, talking to their founder highlighted real-life benefits. Hospitalized kids can send their robot to class or home, participating in real time. Privacy is respected with no data collection, and they're assessing the psychological impact on users. 🛡 Nijta: Speech anonymization! This innovation removes biometric data and personal identifiers from audio recordings while preserving intonations, enhancing privacy for call centers and AI meeting assistants. Incubated at Inria’s startup studio, it's a great example of responsible innovation. 🌳 UPEAK: A device that electrifies any wheelchair, empowering users with affordable mobility. The young founder built the first prototype himself and is now developing the product. Impressive! 🌱 COLIBA: Decentralized waste collection in Africa, raising awareness about sorting waste at the source. ⍰ EVERYHUMAN: AI-based personalized in-store fragrance perfumery. Their algorithm creates the perfect scent for you. Intriguing! 💡 Vulgaroo : An AI tool that translates lab results into easy-to-understand documents. A game-changer for patients and labs alike! Poke Guillemette de Brabant and our wonderful clients Pascale Cavillon and Hélène Guillot 😳 Sadly, not all innovations are as inspiring. Several tools were presented to “have AI identify your wrinkles or imperfections” or “make your skin perfect”. Really? Is that all AI can do for women in 2024? Training a tool to perpetuate an old cliché about feminine beauty standards? Please! But I'm an optimist. Let’s end on a high note: 💝 A fantastic session on mission-driven investing to tackle global challenges, featuring inspiring speakers like @Nadia Bresous Mehigan, Marie Ekeland, Nmachi Jidenma, Amiel Kornel, and Ashish (Ash) Puri. The Female Founder Challenge was also a highlight with amazing participants like Daria Stepanova, Pamela Pardini, Alyssa Emmungil, Albane Dery, Flore Lestrade, and Tatiana Jama. What about you? What would you like to see as AI and tech innovations? 💫 Regain your freedom online #Vivatech #AI #Innovation #Tech #Sustainability #FemaleFounders #MissionDrivenInvesting #Privacy #Mobility #Healthcare
