Working on ways to reduce noise impact near airports Under the SESAR3 DSD #HERON project, the Increased Second Glide Slope ‘#ISGS’ solution aiming at noise footprint reduction on final approach, will be further demonstrated (by Brussels Airport Company and skeyes, with support from EUROCONTROL) in live airport environment at Brussels (EBBR) later this year, with a focus on night operations. The second slope will be up to 3.5deg, and for this case, it is envisaged to operate an adapted dual PAPI visual aid. In preparation, EUROCONTROL is coordinating several flight simulation sessions, to further evaluate energy management and optimised approach techniques with steeper final approach profiles, with adapted flaps configuration and landing gear extension timings. This under various wind conditions and while meeting standard stabilisation criteria. The simulations are using full flight simulator facilities from Lufthansa Aviation Training, benefit from support and guidance from Airbus and participation from Crews from DHL, Brussels Airlines, Vueling Airlines and Air France with valuable feedback received. Following an assessment last week with Airbus A321, today we go heavier and larger with an A330, looking to the feedback from our Crew! More information about the HERON project: https://lnkd.in/etmDM7pp The HERON project has received funding from the SESAR 3 Joint Undertaking under the Connecting EUROPE Facility programme (CINEA - European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency) under grant agreement No 893375. #EUGreendeal

PRESS RELEASE: FLYHT Aerospace Solutions Ltd. (TSX-V: FLY) (OTCQX: FLYLF) and Canada Jetlines Operations Ltd. (NEO: CJET) have announced a collaboration. FLYHT's AFIRS 228 Iridium SatCom and AFIRS EdgeTM 5G solutions will be installed on Canada Jetlines' A320 aircraft as part of the collaboration. This partnership will also see Canada Jetlines serving as FLYHT's A320 Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) partner for the aircraft type. The AFIRS 228 solution, a real-time data communication solution, has been a leader in the industry for over a decade. On the other hand, the AFIRS Edge is an industry-first, 5G-enabled, wireless quick-access recorder that transmits data on the ground through cellular networks. It also provides Aircraft Interface Device (AID) functionality and allows remote system configuration and health management to minimize maintenance involvement and costs. Canada Jetlines will have access to FLYHT's suite of software services, including ClearPort, FuelSense, and AFIRS Gateway. ClearPort optimizes turn management and improves on-time performance (OTP). FuelSense provides insight into operational standards for fuel efficiency and emissions reductions. Lastly, AFIRS Gateway streamlines the existing Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) program through automation and enhanced data collection. Installations are expected to commence in October 2023. #Aerospace #Technology #Partnership #A320 #Innovation https://lnkd.in/gR-VecEr

First electric plane to cross an international border Alia-250 made aviation history by becoming the first all-electric aircraft to successfully cross an international border. This groundbreaking flight took us from Plattsburgh, New York, to Trudeau Airport in Montreal, Quebec, covering just over 105 kilometers in approximately 31 minutes. Alia, is an electric conventional takeoff and landing (eCTOL) aircraft from Beta Technologies, some features are: - 400 kilometers range - 120 kilometers per hour of cruising speed - 15 m wingspan approximately - 10 times quieter than traditional fuel-burning planes - Configured to carry passengers or cargo Excitingly, they are on course for FAA certification in 2025, while BETA's ALIA VTOL model is aiming for certification by 2026. The future of aviation is drawing ever closer, and it's looking cleaner, quieter, and more sustainable than ever before!" 👉 click "Follow" Joselito Henriques for Innovation, technologia Florian Palatini Sasa Spasic Dipl.-Ing.
