Flying Fox - Interesting new additional to the global charter fleet! Keen to hear peoples thoughts on the below..... According to the Superyacht Times article below, the yacht Flying Fox is still sanctioned by the US government due to her previous management, however they say that the Owner is not (and never was) sanctioned. I have been told that the Owner is sanctioned by the Ukraine, although not the US. For me this raises issues in 2 ways. Firstly, if the Owner is sanctioned by Ukraine, you are surely living with a higher risk of the Owner entering the US sanctions lists, and all that would then consequently follow. Secondly if the Owner is sanctioned by Ukraine then this could be a negative morally for some clients. If I had a client that wanted to charter Flying Fox I would facilitate it. So long as the situation is legal, it is not for me to stand as a barrier to what clients want. However it is imperative that the clients fully understand the whole situation.

This practice from the shipping lines remind me of the Indonesia budget carrier- Lion Air’s strategy of publishing numerous flights before cancelling and consolidating the flights, to the dismay of its passengers #containershipping #freightforwarding #cargo #globaleconomy
Blanked sailings now the norm Blanked Asia-Europe sailings have become expected in liner operators' routines, according to Alphaliner's report. Record newbuilding deliveries have made operators reduce sailings to manage capacity and THE Alliance has the largest percentage of skipped schedules. THE Alliance has blanked just over 10 of its sailings, translating to nearly 20% of sailings that have been skipped. In comparison, the OCEAN Alliance has skipped 10 of its 90-odd voyages, amounting to a suspension rate of 10%. Skipping sailings was initially a way to reduce capacity in times of low cargo demand. During the Covid-19 pandemic, missed sailings were the consequence of port congestion with ships arriving too late for a new round voyage. Now with the influx of new tonnage and a sufficient amount of available ships, blanked sailings have become common practice for a different reason. *Source: LFS Group Newsletter
