Your invitation to a cinematic evening with purpose on the 20th June, 2024 On 20th June, 2024, The European Nature Trust (TENT) will be hosting the charitable London premiere of Why Not Scotland? – a narrative and personal documentary posing the pressing question: If nature is recovering across Europe, can Scotland undergo a similar revival? The Evening: TENT invites you to the Marylebone Theatre for an inspiring, charitable cinematic event that will raise awareness, inspiration and engagement with Scottish nature. In many parts of Europe, ‘wild rivers’ still exist, forest cover has grown by 5% since 2000, and traditional practices of coexisting with species like beavers, bears and wolves are being unearthed. While social and political challenges abound, keystone species are making a significant comeback. The EU has recently adopted its ‘Nature Restoration Law’, and collectively, all UN countries must protect 30% of all land and seas by 2030 to meet the “30x30” target. It begs the question, if Europe is making progress, can Scotland meet the challenge posed by the climate and biodiversity crises? During the evening, the Why Not Scotland? film will address this challenging question through personal narrative storytelling, auguring hope, inspiration, and practical solutions for nature recovery. A panel discussion will review the state of the rewilding debate in Scotland, and assess the obstacles that Scotland’s communities, climate and biodiversity must overcome. The Film: Produced by SCOTLAND: The Big Picture, shot across multiple locations in Europe, this feature-length documentary accompanies Flo, a young Scot, who is concerned by the state of nature and fearful about an uncertain future. During her travels Flo discovers places where nature is making a spectacular comeback, breathing life back into the landscape and revitalising communities. With wildfires blazing in Maui, and floods coursing through Norway, nature is giving us clear warning signs that we need to treat her better. 🙏 Transforming our societies to align with nature won't be easy but it's essential to securing our own future as a species. Just have a go online) 🌴 Added 8 new trees to my Ecologi | B Corp™ forest ✒️ Added my name to The Dirty Protest against sh*t in our ocean 💰 Made a small donation (£20) to local charity Warming up the Homeless Distribution, which could help them buy 20x breakfast packs ✈ Because I booked a flight for The Economist's World Ocean Initiative conference in Lisbon (I looked into train travel but just couldn't make it work - both re time and budget), which will produce 0.47 tonnes of CO2 according to the Sustainable Travel carbon calculator, I funded 1 tonne of blue carbon removal via my Ecologi profile 🌻 I also funded 2m square of habitat restoration in the UK via my Ecologi profile 🌳 Planted 69 trees via my refoorest extension ✏ Signed an open letter from Cornwall Wildlife Trust calling for government action to protect British wildlife 🌳 Planted 33 trees via Treeapp Share what you've been up to 👇 I love to see how everyone else is making a difference! #FreelanceWriter #GivingBack #BusinessForGood

We are absolutely delighted to hear that one of the impact initiatives supported by our Tomorrow Tree Fund, Acción Andina, have been named as one of the winners of The Earthshot Prize 2023! We have been supporting their work through our Tomorrow Tree Fund powered by Milkywire since the fund's initiation in 2020. By working with 11 tree planting and protecting grassroots NGOs from all over the globe, we are able to support local communities, train restoration leaders and create job opportunities. Acción Andina is a grassroots, community-based initiative working across South America to protect native high Andean forest ecosystems for their invaluable benefits to nature and millions of people in the region. Co-founded by non-profit organisations Global Forest Generation and Asociación Ecosistemas Andinos, the initiative revives the ancient Inca principles of “Ayni and Minka”, a deep commitment to working together for the common good. Their approach unites tens of thousands of people in local and indigenous communities to protect and restore the native forests and ecosystems. Work that is vital for the region’s climate resilience, water security, biodiversity, community livelihoods and indigenous culture. The initiative provides critical resources including salary support, project and financial management, as well as technical training for local conservation leaders, organizations and communities to grow long-term land protection and restoration activities. Acción Andina works closely with local communities in the high Andes to carry out conservation activities, building powerful partnerships for future land and resource management. Today is the launch of the Giki #employeeracetozero competition which several employees at Bartec Municipal Technologies Limited are taking part in. This first week is Standing up for Nature. I've made a start by donating to Rainforest Trust UK (some of their projects are funding matched so every £1 from you = £3 to the project) and doing some litter picking on my lunchtime dog walk. And our garden is basically a jungle so doing a bit for local biodiversity 😄 It's only a drop in the ocean and we need industry to step up and make the big changes but there's something we can all do to contribute. #thinkcarbon #noplanetb #climateaction #climatecrisis
