President Biden is set to sign a historic proclamation today, marking the 82nd anniversary of Emmett Till's birth, as he designates a national monument to honor the life and legacy of Emmett and his mother, Mamie Till. Emmett's tragic story is an indelible part of American history and remains a powerful symbol of the civil rights movement. This monument will serve as a poignant reminder of the atrocities of the past and teaching what really happened while highlighting the need for continued progress towards a more inclusive and compassionate society. We believe racial reconciliation begins with telling the truth. We strive for a more harmonious and equitable future for all Americans. #EmmettTillMonument #CivilRightsLegacy #EqualityAndJustice

Rogers, M. L. (2015). David Walker and the Political Power of the Appeal. Political Theory, 43(2), 208-233. https://lnkd.in/gKXURMEd Abstract: David Walker’s famous 1829 Appeal to the Colored Citizens of the World expresses a puzzle at the very outset. What are we to make of the use of “Citizens” in the title given the denial of political rights to African Americans? This essay argues that the pamphlet relies on the cultural and linguistic norms associated with the term appeal to call into existence the political standing of black folks. Walker’s use of citizen does not need to rely on a precognitive legal relationship precisely because it is the practice of judging that illuminates one’s political, indeed, citizenly standing. Properly understood, the Appeal aspires to transform blacks and whites, and when it informs the prophetic dimension of the text, it tilts the entire pamphlet in a democratic direction. This is the political power of the pamphlet; it exemplifies the call-and-response logic of democratic self-governance. #Alkebulan #Rise #Ubuntu

What’s amazing about this protest is the students here [GUEST] on “Student Visas” afforded by a corrupted US State Department under Biden. All assume they have the rights afforded an American! [The Greatest Country in the World], hands down! The current [weak] president WILL be voted out, bottom line! The Facts; 1. It’s crucial to recognize that non-immigrant visas do not automatically grant the same rights as U.S. citizens or permanent residents. 2. Student visa holders are subject to specific regulations, including maintaining full-time enrollment, reporting address changes, and adhering to visa expiration dates. 3. While they enjoy certain privileges, they do not have the same voting rights, or protection under the First Amendment as [REAL] Americans! There's a simple solution, cancel their Visas and deport them! The University of Iran is offering FREE scholarships, let them go there and protest!
The NYPD is unafraid to say it. We are proud to be American. We are proud to protect New York City and uphold our nation’s sacred principles of freedom, justice and democracy. It’s what defines the American spirit. We will always defend everyone’s right to free speech while ensuring public safety in the greatest city in the world.
