Our students' journeys are nothing short of inspiring. Check out first-year student, Zuri N.'s, story to see why our students choose our program, and how philanthropy sets us apart. #TransformingTomorrow #WomeninConstruction #WeCanDoThat
First-year building construction (BC) student and recipient of the School's Advisory Board Scholarship, Zuri N., had initially planned to attend an HBCU. After meeting her soon-to-be Professor and Chair Ece Erdogmus during a departmental tour, her mind was changed. Professor Erdogmus emphasized how Georgia Tech School of Building Construction has the highest percentage of female led faculty. Zuri also noticed all the international name plates as she walked the corridors of the offices and felt right at home. Her decision was further sealed after Gold Carpet Day and the OMED gala. Philanthropy makes possible scholarships that help attract and propel students like Zuri. Now, Zuri looks forward to the next few years to learn and discover at Georgia Tech. #TransformingTomorrow

Understanding University Endowment Models and Their Benefits for Donors University endowments are crucial for financial stability and growth, supporting scholarships, research, and more. Donors can make a lasting impact by contributing funds to support education and innovation. Here’s a quick overview of how endowments work and why they’re beneficial for donors. How Endowments Work: - Donation: Donors contribute funds. - Investment: Funds are invested in diversified assets. - Returns: Investments generate income. - Utilization: A portion of the returns fund university needs; the rest is reinvested. Types of Endowments: - Restricted: Funds designated for specific purposes. - Unrestricted: Funds used at the university’s discretion. - Term: Funds used for a specific period. - Quasi-Endowments: Flexible funds designated by the university. Benefits for Donors: - Lasting Impact: Continuous support for education and research. - Tax Advantages: Potential tax deductions and favorable treatment of appreciated assets. - Recognition: Naming rights for buildings, scholarships, etc. - Personal Fulfillment: Contributing to the advancement of education and future opportunities. University endowments provide stability and growth, attracting top talent, supporting innovation, and enhancing the student experience. Donors make a lasting difference, fostering education and innovation. 𝐓𝐨 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐞. 𝐓𝐨 𝐒𝐞𝐞𝐤. 𝐓𝐨 𝐅𝐢𝐧𝐝. Our #DNA is encompassed in those words. We believe that to find excellence, we must consistently strive to improve our understanding of the world and continuously seek knowledge. However, when striving to achieve excellence and especially academic excellence, one should not strive to make ends meet. This is why we decided to make a donation to the Bradford Futures Fund and support a University of Bradford student throughout the duration of their studies. The Bradford Futures #Fund was established to provide support to University of Bradford undergraduate students who come from traditionally non-privileged backgrounds struggling to cover living expenses. This support helps alleviate some of the #financialburdens students face and allows them to focus on their studies. Two thirds of students at the University of Bradford are the first in their families to pursue higher education. The decision to obtain a #bachelorsdegre is not only a gateway to a better future for themselves, but also their families and their communities. Since the first scholarships were awarded in the academic year 2021-2022, the demand for support has increased as has the cost of living. Our very own CEO, Dr Efstathios Vassiliadis, is a University of Bradford MBA graduate. We know firsthand about the quality of education the university offers and we feel honoured to be one of the scholarship donors that makes it possible for students at Bradford to continue to strive, seek and find knowledge. “𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘷𝘪𝘥𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘱𝘱𝘰𝘳𝘵𝘶𝘯𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘦𝘴 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘴𝘵𝘶𝘥𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘴 𝘸𝘩𝘰 𝘴𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘴𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘪𝘧𝘪𝘤 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘭𝘦𝘥𝘨𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘴𝘦𝘦𝘬 𝘵𝘰 𝘤𝘰𝘯𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘣𝘶𝘵𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘰𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘵𝘺 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘥𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘰𝘱𝘮𝘦𝘯𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘮𝘪𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘧𝘰𝘳 Evnia. From Zurich to New York to Singapore, our Twente campus is a launch pad to the world but how did generations of UT'ers develop their 'anything is possible' global mindset? It all started today back in 1948 with the founding of what would become the Twente University Fund. I'm inspired by our 'UFonds' and am proud to be one of over 1.200 donors from among UT alumni, staff and friends. Learn more about the history of the fund below and how it 'fuels' education, research and student activism. 🎉Today is the Twente University Fund 75th birthday! For 75 years, the fund has been creating an impact in the academic community and supporting talent within the UT community. The fund was originally established to lobby for a technical college in the east of the Netherlands. And afterwards helped build that college, the campus and the academic community. 🎬But what is the purpose of the fund? How did it begin? And how does the fund ensure impact? Find out in the attached 2-minute video about the story of the Twente University Fund. 💪Making an impact is only possible thanks to the contributions of over 1200 donors. Alumni, (former) staff members and UT friends make the difference and support talent development and ground-breaking research. Together we 'Team up for Talent'. Would you like to know more about the Twente University Fund? Please contact Maurice Essers, Josine Meerburg or visit https://lnkd.in/eRKt7FFs Special information for making a gift from the USA can be found here: https://lnkd.in/gf8WqiG8
