The big week is here! My term as AIA President is nearly at the halfway mark as we host #AIA24 starting officially on Wednesday. I’ll be attending a pre-conference event tomorrow, and then it’s non-stop events and activity until Saturday afternoon. I am thrilled that the conference where I serve as President is in Washington, D.C. Not only is it our nation’s capitol, but it is also where the AIA’s Global Campus for Architecture and Design will be re-opening next year. On a personal note, I spent my first Summer as an architecture firm intern in D.C. in 2004, and then moved there upon graduation from architecture school. Twenty years later, I’m so very honored to welcome more than 10,000 AIA members and guests to this homecoming event for our global community. We anticipate a healthy amount of on-site registration given how accessible D.C. is to many cities on the East Coast with high concentrations of architects. Speaking of healthy, I’m especially looking forward to interviewing Dr. Sanjay Gupta on Friday about the connection between health and design.
