Do you know the extent of our global #naturecrises? With 25% of GHG emissions generated from land clearing, crop production and fertilization, there is a massive need for #naturepostive policies, business approaches and design solutions if we are to address the #climatecrises. The United Nations provides these Facts about the nature crisis: 🌏 We are using the equivalent of 1.6 Earths to maintain our current way of life and ecosystems cannot keep up with our demands. 🦁 One million of the world’s estimated 8 million species of plants and animals are threatened with extinction. 🏙 75% of the Earth’s land surface has been significantly altered by human actions, including 85 percent of wetland areas. 🐠 Close to 90% of the world’s marine fish stocks are fully exploited, overexploited or depleted. 🍓 Our global food system is the primary driver of biodiversity loss with agriculture alone being the identified threat 24,000 of the 28,000 species at risk of extinction. 🚜 Agricultural expansion is said to account for 70% of the projected loss of terrestrial biodiversity. 🌊 66% of ocean area is impacted by human activities, including from fisheries and pollution. The loss of biodiversity in #Africa is significant and requires intentional effort if we are to address and reverse it. #regenerativeagriculture #biodiversity #sustainability
A nice short interview about one of the world's greatest problems https://lnkd.in/efRawMZx If we do not reverse global biodiversity loss & desertification, which is easy and makes rather than costing money, cutting fossil fuel use will be meaningless. If I am wrong, then I hope some fellow scientist will tell everyone where this is so because billions of lives are at stake.

ADVANTAGES OF CLIMATE CHANGE. - Increased crop yields due to warmer temperatures and changing precipitation patterns, boosting agricultural productivity. - New economic opportunities emerging in renewable energy, sustainable agriculture, and eco-tourism, creating jobs and driving growth. - Increased biodiversity as new species migrate into the region, enriching ecosystems and supporting conservation efforts. While these potential advantages exist, it's crucial to address the overall negative impacts of climate change and work towards mitigating its effects to ensure a sustainable future. #climatechange #biodiversity #Agriculture #HireUs #SustainableFarming #Agriinvestment #InnovativeAgriculture #GrowWithUs #FarmSuccess #Tractorforgrains

Let's close the gap on biodiversity... One million of the world's incredible species of plants and animals are threatened with extinction. Around 40% of the global population are adversely affected by land degradation (those with little control over it more than most...). Hundreds of millions of people are at increased risk of flooding because of coastal habitat loss. And impacts to crop production from pollinator loss and wide-ranging over-exploitation undermines food security. Nature loss has important and increasingly irreparable consequences. Over 50% of global GDP is moderately or highly dependent on nature and the services it provides. Businesses are facing increasing risk (and regulation) and must address impacts on nature loss and ecosystems, with evidence-based approaches which genuinely target nature positive outcomes. We are all partners in taking action, we all continue to learn, challenge and drive innovative approaches and solutions for sustainable change - see how you can play a part: https://lnkd.in/dDzEEugi #LetsCloseTheGap #LetsCloseTheGapOnBiodiversity #VoiceForNature #PartnerForSustainableChange #BeTheChange #ChangeMakers Sources: IPBES, UNEP, WEF

Global biodiversity loss & desertification are critical areas that need urgent attention above and beyond all efforts to cut fossil fuel use. Only addressing one of these issues will be meaningless.
