As Disability Pride Month comes to an end, let's take a moment to reflect and challenge our perceptions of disability. Disability is multifaceted, with many people living with invisible disabilities that we might not recognise at first glance.We must open our eyes and broaden our understanding, viewing disability holistically. When we challenge our assumptions and work towards inclusivity, we make the world a better place for everyone. Let's continue disability pride beyond July, let's move beyond the medical and social models of disability and start embracing the disabled community through a holistic lens. This… is true. There’s also been very little posts on social media across the board in this area. Is it due to the hesitation and anxiousness of what’s happening within our government and the presidential election that’s making companies not push onwards with their commitment for our disability communities? Is it the inflation that is impacting companies where their focus has shifted away from this to that? If so, something’s not right… there should be a balance as one would think. I cannot help but wonder what assessment tools Disability:IN is using to rate all the companies they have rated… Who’s doing these assessments? How are they authentically done with integrity? How are these companies getting high scores when this is the case… this post speaks volumes. Nonetheless, that should not slow us down, but drives us forward, and continue to speak out, speak up, push for changes that need to be made as there still so much to be done for our communities. What can we do to drive our companies to follow through with what they preach?
