Agency for All Project's Dr. Rebecka Lundgren and Jasmine Uysal attended the ARCHES (Addressing Reproductive Coercion in Health Settings) co-design workshop in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, India last week. The workshop was led by FPA India and Alt Unfold, and attending partners included the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), Sambodhi Research and Communications Pvt. Ltd., public health providers, medical officers, and leadership from local NGOs working to prevent violence and improve sexual and reproductive health (#SRH) and rights for women. Dr. Lundgren presented on the Agency for All project and Jasmine presented on the ARCHES intervention, including providing an overview of reproductive coercion and intimate partner violence (#IPV). The workshop involved a participatory approach with local frontline workers in community and clinic settings to design an intervention package to meet the #familyplanning needs for women visiting in Gwalior. The workshop was opened with a “lighting the candle” ceremony which Dr. Lundgren led along with leadership from other partner organizations. The three-day workshop ended with an advisory board meeting where partners gave input into the model that was developed. Overall, partners agreed that addressing reproductive coercion and intimate partner violence is needed but challenging in this context. Join the Social Norms & Agency Learning Collaboratives for a participant-driven side event at the 2024 Sexual Violence Research Initiative (SVRI) Forum. This interactive session will focus on #socialnorms-shifting approaches to prevent intimate partner violence (IPV). A panel of experts will start by sharing measurement and learning approaches they've used to: 1️⃣ Understand the relationship between social norms and #IPV, 2️⃣ Unpack change pathways, and 3️⃣ Assess the effectiveness and feasibility of social norms-IPV approaches. The group will then collectively discuss and identify best practices, challenges, and recommendations for advancing measurement and learning social norms-IPV approaches. In Jaipur, India 🇮🇳 today, we've kicked off our week-long Agency for All consortium partners meeting! We're excited to be connecting in person over the next few days to: 1️⃣ Build capacity of consortium partners in key technical areas and consortium activities 2️⃣ Reflect on formative research results and advance our conceptualizations of agency 3️⃣ Develop a project-wide pathway for agency-centered social and behavior change interventions and consider their scalability 4️⃣ Continue to build partner relationships, identifying areas for improvement and actions to uphold project values 5️⃣ Take stock of progress, identify course corrections and agree on consortium-wide directions for the next year, including work planning Thanks to the entire Agency for All consortium for making the time to come together and plan for the next stages of our work together on #agency to... 📢 Hier à Yaoundé, le Directeur de la Santé Familiale, représentant du Secrétaire Général du Ministère de la Santé Publique, en présence de USAID, des décideurs politiques, des partenaires de mise en œuvre et de la société civile, a présidé l’atelier de dissémination des résultats de la première phase des études de Agency for All Project sur l'#acceptabilitécontraceptive et l'#infertilité au #Cameroun. Financées par USAID, ces études avaient pour objectif d’identifier les facteurs de non-acceptabilité contraceptive ; et de documenter la conception d'une intervention de changement social et comportemental (CSC) portant sur les perceptions, les attitudes et les normes liées à l'(in)fertilité, y compris la stigmatisation liée à l'infertilité, dans quelques localités du Cameroun. 📍 Les résultats de la première étude (acceptabilité contraceptive) suggèrent qu'au Cameroun, le degré de (non) acceptabilité contraceptive d'un individu pourrait s'expliquer par des facteurs comme le niveau de confiance dans les méthodes contraceptives ; ses objectifs de vie, ses expériences et ses connaissances ; l’influence de la société et le degré d'implication de son partenaire dans le choix et la prise de décision en matière de contraception. 📍 Les résultats de la deuxième étude quant à elle, révèlent que les conséquences de l'infertilité pour les femmes et les hommes dans les communautés étudiées, exacerbées par les perceptions, les croyances et les normes sociales, limitent la capacité des femmes et des hommes à surmonter l'infertilité et affectent les femmes de manière disproportionnée. 🚀 Excited to Share from the 44th Sunbelt Conference 2024! 🚀 I am thrilled to have had the opportunity to present our work on "Navigating Networks of Care - Social Network Insights into development of an intervention on Respectful Maternity Care" at the INSNA Sunbelt Conference at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh this June. Our formative research study delved into the complexities of Respectful Maternity Care (RMC), with a small component on social network analysis. The insights from SNA were critical in supporting the development of intervention that can significantly improve the experience of women during childbirth. It was quite an experience to attend the Sunbelt for the first time and see the immense diversity of disciplines and breadth of work that was being shared at the conference.
