Thoughtful and galvanising article in today’s theguardian 2018 newspaper about the long-term effect of the #Covid19 pandemic on health and health prospects across the UK. The evidence shows that women lost significantly more ground than men in health and well-being and that gap is not closing. The extent of that unequal impact on women is truly breathtaking: #Gynaecology waiting lists in the #NHS went up 60% - more than any other category. The average waiting time for #endometriosis diagnosis has risen to a staggering - and unacceptable - NINE YEARS. Children and young people, and older adults, have also paid a hefty price in health and well-being and they continue to pay that price in their current and long-term health prospects. All of this can be tackled and changed - but it will take a deliberate, integrated and well-funded approach. If we want to see that change we need to talk about it and advocate for it, as #healthprofessionals, as organisations and as individuals with a voice. #publichealth #womenshealth
