On 18th June 2024, MoC releases draft Mining Plan Guidelines for Coal and Lignite blocks 2024, aiming to foster a more sustainable and ethical approach to coal mining. The primary objective is to optimize coal resource extraction through sustainable practices, minimizing waste and enhancing operational efficiency. India, with the fifth-largest coal reserves globally, relies on coal for 55% of its energy needs, making it the second-largest consumer of coal. Stakeholders are invited to provide feedback on the proposed guidelines by 1st July 2024 for an inclusive review process. Bens Creek Group PLc (AIM:BEN, OTC:BENCF) said it is now working double shifts on both of its high wall miners at its metallurgical coal mine in #WestVirginia. One of the high wall machines was sidelined for most of August but #BensCreek said it still produced 42,000 tons of clean #coal, its highest monthly total ever, which included 10,000 tons of #cleancoal from its underground #mining operations. Four coal trains were also shipped during August, delivering 44,000 tons of clean coal. Adam Wilson, chief executive, commented: "We are delighted to be able to report that the two highwall miners have started double shift production. “This is a significant milestone, especially when added to the record coal production month in August.  “We expect September's coal production to exceed August's numbers."
