⭐️ Question.. 👷🏼♂️ It’s a fact that the construction industry has a massive skills shortage ‼️ In January, it was annnounced that 244,000 apprentices are required to fill the skills gap by 2032 ⏳ So how is it close to impossible to find apprenticeship opportunities? 🔍 💢 Apprentice.Scot doesn’t have a single skills related construction apprenticeship available 💢 Indeed has 3 Joinery Apprenticeships in the WHOLE of Scotland and none of them are even in the central belt I find it unbelievable that there doesn’t appear to be more opportunities on offer. I come across school leavers constantly who would jump at an apprenticeship yet say there aren’t any - and it would seem, that they are correct. Surely not though, am I missing something? Is it that it’s only that one window per year? Are people not able to offer apprenticeships? If not, why is that? What can we do to help, if anything? Share your answers below please… I would love to hear people’s answers / thoughts 💭

Learning what options are available and getting to experience them in Junior High and High School is an invaluable experience for young people trying to figure out what they like to do. Simply stated, they don't know what they don't know. We have to educate them on the possibilities. Once a passion is identified, the next step is working with these young people and providing guidance on what it takes to enter that field. Introducing them to prospective opportunities locally and beyond.

Living Donor & Senior Manager Talent Acquisition at Albertsons Companies - focused on creating a better world of work
I agree 110% with everything here working first hand to identify talent for skilled labor in our Distribution and Manufacturing plants. These 3 ideals he shared stood out tho: • Shift from buying to building talent. • Develop our own instead of competing for a shrinking skilled workforce. • Use apprenticeships and create inviting environments for newcomers. At Albertsons Companies , I am working with business leaders and peers to build up our internship program and build out an apprenticeship program to tackle this exact issue. If you’ve already started your journey, what has worked for you? What hasn’t worked? What learnings have you had? Let’s learn and grow together with this together! #interns #internships #apprentice Jeff Wismans Gene Tierney #apprenticeship #skilledlabor #skilledtrades #trades #manufacturing #distribution John Bradley PHR David Van Rooy Mike T. As its #nationalapprenticeshipweek here is a snippet of the day in the life of a Plumbing and Heating Apprentice! Why Apprenticeships? ✔ Practical Training Experience: Apprenticeships provide hands-on learning opportunities in real-world work settings, enabling individuals to acquire practical skills directly relevant to their chosen field. ✔ Earning Potential While Learning: Unlike traditional educational routes, apprenticeships allow individuals to earn a wage while undergoing training, making them a financially viable option and reducing reliance on student loans. ✔ Diverse Industry Opportunities: Apprenticeships span various sectors such as construction, healthcare, technology, and more, ensuring individuals can find opportunities aligned with their interests and career aspirations. ✔ High Demand for Apprentices: Employers increasingly value the practical experience gained through apprenticeships, leading to a growing demand for apprentice-trained professionals across industries facing skills shortages. ✔ Structured Training with Mentorship: Apprenticeships offer structured training programs overseen by experienced mentors, ensuring apprentices receive quality guidance and support as they develop their skills. ✔ Pathway to Employment: Completion of an apprenticeship often leads to employment opportunities within the sponsoring company or organization, with many employers hiring apprentices as full-time employees upon program completion. ✔ Industry-Recognized Credentials: Apprenticeships often result in the attainment of industry-recognized certifications or qualifications, enhancing an apprentice's credibility and employability. #NAW2024 #nationalapprenticeshipweek #apprentice #benefits
