Walking and Cycling: Effective Actions Essential to Reaching the Climate Goals https://lnkd.in/eeasQThq

Well, I'm a day late with my update on preparation for my #manchester to #paris charity bike ride but here it is. 8 weeks to go to when I set off on May 3rd & these posts don't help as they seem to bring that day closer a little faster than it should be! It's a challenge juggling work with training commitments, my idea is to get on the saddle as many times in a week as I can, even if its for a short-10-15 miles. I had the additional challenge of running an Insights Discovery workshop this last week so to prepare for that then do a successful wash up takes time as I want my clients to get the very best out of the time we spend together so as you can imagine that does impact on cycling time,unless I facilitate the day sitting on a spin bike, now theres an idea! 😃 Next week I'm running 2 workshops working with The GC Index profiling tool so once more I'll be time poor so need to make the most of the weekends and the ever increasing daylight in the week. Lanyarding everything securely and safely to our ocean rowing boat during our 3000-mile journey across the Atlantic Ocean, in World's Toughest Row is crucial for several reasons: Safety: The ocean is an unpredictable and potentially dangerous environment. Waves, wind, and storms can cause the boat to pitch and roll unexpectedly. Anything not properly secured could become a hazard, leading to injury or damage to equipment. Preventing Loss: Items that are not secured can easily be lost overboard. In the vast expanse of the ocean, losing essential equipment or supplies could jeopardise the success of the journey or even the safety of the crew. And it does nothing to help the environment. Maintaining Order: Living and rowing on a small boat for such a long duration requires a high degree of organisation. Having everything securely lashed down helps maintain order and prevents chaos, making it easier for us to find what we need when we need it. Efficiency: With everything securely lanyarded, we can focus more on rowing and less on worrying about loose items. This can contribute to better performance and overall progress towards our goal. Resilience Against Weather: The Atlantic Ocean can present various weather conditions, including high winds and rough seas. Securing everything properly ensures that the equipment and supplies can withstand these conditions without being damaged or lost. The report underscores the growing recognition of walking as a key solution to climate, health, and equity challenges worldwide. It also introduces the PATH Active Travel NDC Template to further integrate walking and cycling strategies into national policies. This is an important step in advocating for healthier, more sustainable cities.
