This is quite revealing in many ways. I have a story of my interactions with Stripe that I will share soon when I fully understand their business model. It’s a bizarre situation where built-in controls to prevent fraudulent transactions end up being basis for punitive measures to the business instead of being a protective layer for both the payment processor and the business. We got a bunch of pings from suspicious transactions that ended immediately when we switched a processor. But then those transaction requests that failed were used to say “your business is too risky” (before even a single successful transaction could go through). This got me thinking deeply, especially when those pings (which are supposed to be payment requests initiated by random customers/ fraudsters visiting the shop) immediately stopped when we switched the gateway. It got me thinking asking myself, is this some internal hatch operation to get rid of undesirable clients? That is, create a reasonable cause to terminate the relationship and so do it. There is something going on with Stripe in particular that I hope someday we will get to the bottom of it. It was quite unnerving to some degree.

This whitepaper, titled "Data-Driven Transparency and Compliance in the Digital Financial Ecosystem in Africa," extensively examines the adoption of new technologies and the incorporation of global, regional, and national policies with a particular emphasis on mobile money, financial inclusion, data governance, and their impact on African economies. Serving as a regulatory technology (RegTech) solutions guide, it offers a roadmap for seamlessly integrating technologies into current compliance frameworks, providing valuable insights into the future of regulatory compliance in the digital age. Many #African countries are moving ahead fast in achieving financial inclusion for all. However, there is an urgent need for continental level leadership, at the #africanunion level to ensure the fintech tide lifts all the national economic boats.
