Reflecting on 2023, which turned out to be the most successful year for SBC yet, I recalled a conversation which happened in April 2020 during a COVID crisis meeting. Everyone tried to predict scenarios during this meeting, and we got insights from a senior airport executive in Europe who was very adamant that a full recovery from this global pandemic should not be expected before the end of 2023. I would not have bet on this prediction at the time, and we all know it turned out to be true.
Although recovery took time, 2023 also showed me what is possible in the events industry when you invest in talent, produce cutting-edge content, make events immersive, and deliver what you promise. SBC’s recipe of success always starts with listening - listening to our customers, listening to our partners, and listening to our very own people.
Based on this formula of success, we will kick off the year with an amazing, already sold out SBC Summit Rio (on a side note: Brazil just became one of the largest and fasted growing regulated sports betting and iGaming markets in the world), before we head to New York, Malta, Toronto, Miami, Tbilisi, and Lisbon to run the leading iGaming and Sports Betting events in Europe and the Americas.
I am proud of all of us, grateful for every one of you, and excited for what’s ahead!
