This is a description of how a company makes money. How all the elements of the business are combined into a single system that generates profit. You should definitely show your business model if you are looking for foreign partners or investments. Or you are preparing an ESG report for some other purpose. We have prepared a small series of posts in which we will show how Ukrainian and Western companies show their business model. Follow the #businessmodel tag. The first example is from ASTARTA agroholding. Astarta's business model is based on a 220-hectare land bank that unites four business areas: crop production, sugar production, soybean processing, and livestock. Explaining business model, Astarta shows links between individual business elements, for example, sugar beet is grown in the fields, then sugar is produced from sugar beet, sugar production waste is used to produce biogas, and biogas is used in soybean processing. Astarta also shows the business model as a part of a larger concept, the value chain for various stakeholders. Agriculture exports are down. Policy is shifting toward a local-centric ethanol (#biofuel) production model. #USDA estimates two times more corn will be used for ethanol than exported. Is doubling down on ethanol the answer? Let's explore. More than 40,000,000 acres of corn are grown for ethanol. The most common use for ethanol is as an additive to gasoline. The big 3 OEMs are committing to a new fuel source by 2030, primarily #EV. Market adoption of EVs will go from 2% to 10% by 2035. That means less demand for #ethanol. When there is no demand, not even subsidies can hold you up. There needs to be a new use for #farmland in America. Enter industrial hemp fiber and grain. 1 crop, limitless potential. Striking news for the ethanol & aviation fuel industry! According to a recent study by Smith and Swanson, corn ethanol is a more beneficial feedstock for sustainable aviation fuel (SAF). In fact, it would take 3-4 times the amount of soybean acreage to produce an equivalent amount of SAF. To produce 3 billion gallons of sustainable aviation fuel, it would require the use of between 8 and 11 million acres of corn or 35 and 50 million acres of soybeans.
