Great to attend the CIPD Festival of Work conference yesterday in London. What we noticed was the key shift from focusing on knowledge and skills, to thinking more about behaviour and mindsets. Here are some of our key highlights and takeaways: ▶️ Leaders have the single biggest impact on employee engagement (Alex Alvarez, Culture Amp). ▶️ The three key things to transform employee experience are: 1️⃣ Visibility - how can you drive what you can't see? 2️⃣ Leader Capability - how you drive capability of managers and leaders? 3️⃣ Co-created culture - how do you move a critical mass of employees from consumers of culture to culture co-creators? ▶️ Change management is out, a change mindset is in (Toby Hough, HiBob). ▶️ Trust, transparency and communication are key to fostering a culture of change. ▶️ Culture and behaviours are the foundation for change, they are your stabilising force when everything else is in flux. ▶️ L&D leaders need to become more strategic in their approach linking learning needs with business needs and asking 'why' to uncover the root cause of a problem, before jumping to another training course (Andrew Lax, FLPI, Yeo Valley Production Ltd). ▶️ Curiosity is the number 1 behaviour that leaders need to possess - but authenticity and humility also go a long way! I wanted to highlight the transformative power of anger management support in the workplace. As employers, we often face stressful situations that can lead to frustration and, sometimes, anger. However, by embracing anger management techniques, we can learn to communicate more effectively with our employees, fostering a more understanding and productive work environment. Investing in anger management support not only helps in diffusing tense situations but also equips us with the tools to handle conflicts constructively. This proactive approach can lead to improved relationships, increased employee satisfaction, and a more harmonious workplace culture. Let's prioritise emotional intelligence and support systems in our leadership strategies for the better of our teams and organisations.
