Soy is easy to double crop in the same season and is grown all over the world for its versatility, affordability, and nutritional benefits. Containing 40% protein and 20% oil, the ‘king of beans’ is used to feed humans and livestock, and is also used to make biodiesel fuel. 🫘 Thanks to our colleague André Shimohiro (André) for sharing this stunning image from the Rolândia province of Brazil, where he found soy fields, topped with a beautiful rainbow. #DidYouKnow that for a rainbow to be seen, the sun needs to be behind the viewer and low in the sky - at an angle of less than 42° above the horizon; and rain, fog (or some other source of water droplets) must be in front of the viewer. The lower the sun in the sky, the more of an arc of a rainbow will be seen. 🌈 #PhotoFriday

Got 99 problems and another species to feed is one? Okay, we’ll stick to what we’re good at, which is not writing song lyrics… What we are good at is supporting livestock producers’ herds in a variety of different (and common) management situations—including in those pastures where it feels more like a petting zoo than a cattle outfit. Feed in a Drum® All Stock 18 is fortified with 18% protein, offers supplemental trace minerals and vitamins but without added copper (we’re looking at EWE), and since it’s self-limiting, the goats won’t be consuming the same amount as the cows. This formula is available in a variety of sizes in both the U.S. and Canada. Learn more: https://vist.ly/6qsj

There’s an ongoing debate surrounding carbon, the environment, and livestock, a trifecta of complexity often misunderstood by many. Farmers and ranchers tend to acres of ever-changing pasture and grasslands, adopting a scientific mindset to optimize forage nutrition for their herds. Though they might lack formal scientific training, many recognize that research underscores the distinctive carbon cycles associated with grazing livestock. In a significant peer-reviewed study, researchers from Michigan State University and other leading institutions revealed that grass-fed cattle can yield a carbon footprint 66% smaller than those raised on corn and soybeans. This reduction is attributed to the carbon storage potential of well-managed grasslands, which not only benefit soil health but also support the foundation of our entire food system. Opting for 100% grass-fed beef emerges as a flavorful and conscientious choice that contributes positively to the planet we rely on, symbolized by the #realburgerofearthday movement.
