Daniel Jobson, Manufacturing & Quality Supervisor and Climate Team member, shared an article by the Office of Energy highlighting the potential of agrivoltaics, which emphasizes how decarbonization and the adoption of renewable energy, particularly solar power, can empower farmers in battling climate change and drought. By implementing agrivoltaics, farmers not only generate electricity for their own use or sale but also reduce soil evaporation, thereby cutting down irrigation requirements—a crucial step in sustainable farming practices, especially in arid regions like the drylands of Arizona. Biochar as an ESG Option --- Apart from #carboncredits, #biochar is a #nbs for #climatechangeaction. Woody and other combustible organic materials go through a pyrolysis process under high temperature and low oxygen to burn into #charcoal. The clean high heat and hot air (and resulting steam) can be reused as energy sources if the project is of economical scale. Biochar is a soil additive to hold water, a water conservation method to address zero water scenario to assist and benefit farming and food production. It improves nutrient use efficiency and is a practical research area to even remediate depleted topsoil for #malaysia, aside from its many other natural properties in reducing impacts of #globalwarming. On World Environment Day, Phoenix Holdings reaffirms its commitment to environmental sustainability through #impactful initiatives: #Carbon Offsetting - We offset approximately 700 tons of CO2 emissions from employee flights by supporting innovative projects like afforestation, planting over 479 trees across Israel. Regenerative #Agriculture - Promoting #sustainable farming practices, we enabled conservation tillage across 1,400 acres, helping sequester an estimated 2,800 tons of CO2 over 5 years. Food Waste Reduction - Our program engaged 880 classrooms in 47 Bedouin schools to separate and repurpose 2.5 tons of food waste daily as animal feed. Renewable Energy - We facilitated installing 110 kW of solar panels on residential buildings, driving the adoption of clean energy solutions.
