An ocean without fish? Nestlé Purina PetCare Europe introduces its first-ever Ocean Restoration program to restore underwater habitats. As I love diving and the ocean, this is an initiative you need to hear more about! The ocean is vital for all life on earth and the survival of marine life is severely threatened due to climate change and human actions such as pollution and overfishing. Nearly 50% of all oceans have been significantly damaged, resulting in the loss of precious marine habitats. Joint efforts are more important than ever! Today, we are introducing Purina Europe's first Ocean Restoration program. Our goal is to restore 1,500 hectares of marine habitats by 2030. We are joining forces with partners based in the Netherlands Sea Ranger Service, Oyster Heaven and European partners Urchinomics and SeaForester to help scale up their innovative solutions such as planting seagrass meadows, reconstructing oyster reefs, removing excess sea urchins, and restoring disappearing seaweed forests, which form crucial habitats for marine life, including fish that are part of Purina's supply chain.🌍🐟 Want to learn more about the program? Whether it is the place where they obtain their first diving certificate, a dive around the many historical wrecks and last mentioned but so precious to the ecosystem of the Red Sea, the corals and the uncountable species of small and large fishes. Now sustainability and conservation of the fauna and flora in the Red Sea has been a topic of many discussions through the recent years and the government has undertaken various projects to protect and preserve these beautiful colors and the water quality. 🏖️🐦 Help us protect our beaches and shorebirds!  Tidy beaches can be harmful to the Kentish plover, especially during the breeding period. This little shorebird feeds mainly on vegetation residues at the shoreline where it captures invertebrates such as marine worms, small molluscs and crustaceans, as well as beetles, diptera and other insects and spiders. 😢 Beaches that are regularly cleaned from their natural vegetation residues are poor in food resources and poor habitats for the species. 🌊🌿🐛 Support initiatives that promote sustainable beach cleaning practices to #SaveOurShorebirds and #ProtectOurBeaches.
