Councils are filling a record number of children #socialworker vacancies following a 25% recruitment increase. ⬆️ On the other hand, agency staff are falling out of use as the Department for Education (DfE) tries to implement restrictions. As a result, we have seen a slight fall in the vacancy rate of local authority children’s practitioners. Social Services is arguably the part of the public sector that glues all the others together. Yet you never hear politicians speak about social workers and I don’t recall anyone clapping for them during covid. This lack of awareness and appreciation may partly explain why there is a massive recruitment crisis in the profession. The effect is having an enormosly detrimental impact on children and vulnerable families and costs local authorities millions. More investment is urgently required, but appreciation and promotion of the profession is surely a quick cheap win. #publicsector #socialservices #socialwork https://lnkd.in/ekdYSHTV

The recent increase in the National Minimum Wage has sparked discussions across various industries, with particular interest in the impact it will have on the health and social care sector. As a recruiter with extensive experience in this field, I am keen to explore the potential implications of this development. While a higher minimum wage may be welcomed by employees, there are concerns about the potential strain on organizations already facing budgetary constraints. Additionally, there is a need to consider the impact on staffing levels and the quality of care provided to vulnerable individuals. 📈💼💭 The health and social care sector is heavily reliant on a skilled workforce to deliver essential services to those in need. With the increase in the National Minimum Wage, organizations may face greater financial pressure, which could potentially impact recruitment and retention efforts. It is essential for employers to assess the financial implications of the wage increase and consider how they can provide competitive compensation packages while maintaining the standard of care. Furthermore, there may be a need for a reevaluation of operational processes and resource allocation to ensure the sustainability of services in the long term. 🏥💰📊 As we navigate through the changes brought about by the National Minimum Wage increase, it is imperative for all stakeholders to engage in constructive dialogue and collaborate on viable solutions. By exploring the potential challenges and opportunities that this development presents, we can work towards finding a balanced approach that supports both employees and the sustainability of health and social care services. It is important to monitor the impact of the wage increase closely and adapt strategies accordingly to ensure the continued delivery of high-quality care. #NationalMinimumWage #HealthcareIndustry #WorkforceChallenges #vetro #vetrorecruitment
