Given the increasing complexity of the global air transportation system and its interrelated #aviation activities required to assure the safe operation of aircraft, ICAO supports the continued evolution of a proactive strategy to improve safety performance. The foundation of this proactive safety strategy is based on the implementation of a State safety programme (SSP) that systematically addresses safety risks. Their answer was the Abuja Safety Targets. On of the target is the Progressively increase the Effective Implementation (EI) score of ICAO’s USOAP results to no less than 60%. (35% or 19 of all African States by end of 2013, and 70% or 38 of all African States by end of 2015 and 100% or 54 of all African States by end of 2017) As of 2024, the results are as followed : 🔸 15 States have attained EI ≥ 75%, with Ghana, Ethiopia and South Africa championning 🔸 20 States are between 60% and 75% 🔸 19 States < 60 % #newsaero #aviation #Africa #Safety

In 2020, the continent had nearly 70 certified international airports, representing less than 36% of the total, according to ACI. During my participation in the ACI Africa in Cairo / Egypt meeting .. the volume of passenger traffic witnessed an increase in 2023 to (4.3) billion passengers, and the African continent has a promising opportunity for the growth of the civil aviation sector .. as Africa’s share does not exceed (5%) of the total global traffic volume .. Although the population of Africa represents (19%) of the total population of the world .. while Egypt represents (7%) of the population of Africa .. and passenger traffic represents (5%) of the volume of traffic in Africa .. and African airports represent (10%) Of the total airports in the world .. which confirms that there are promising opportunities for the air transport industry In Africa . #aci #aviation #africa #egypt #cairo #airports

Egypt's #aviation capacity has trebled over the past 20 years, and places the country as the Middle East region’s fourth-largest air market, after the super hubs of Dubai and Doha and the large Saudi Arabian market. But #Egypt's 43% increase in capacity from 2019 to 2024 is markedly higher than its rise in passenger bookings.
