Given the increasing complexity of the global air transportation system and its interrelated #aviation activities required to assure the safe operation of aircraft, ICAO supports the continued evolution of a proactive strategy to improve safety performance. The foundation of this proactive safety strategy is based on the implementation of a State safety programme (SSP) that systematically addresses safety risks. Here's a great update from our regional office in Nairobi on how we're helping states do just that. We invite you to learn more about these issues on our website, and to join us in advocating for SSP implementation by commenting on or sharing this post: https://lnkd.in/eAP8-ECR

#GOOD_TO_KNOW | Tchad : l'OACI outille les pays d'Afrique Centrale sur la certification des aérodromes ✈️ Chad: International Civil Aviation Organization Equips Central African Countries on Airport Certification In Africa, many international airports are not yet fully certified, and a significant number of those that are certified cannot fully implement the Standards and Recommended Practices (SARPs) set forth in ICAO's Annex 14 - Aerodromes and the Aerodrome Certification Manual (Doc 9774). In 2020, the continent had nearly 70 certified international airports, representing less than 36% of the total, according to ACI. This proportion has only marginally increased since then. ➡️ Full Story (fr/en) is accessible here https://lnkd.in/eHMaHhe8 #newsaero #aviation #airports #certification

During my participation in the ACI Africa in Cairo / Egypt meeting .. the volume of passenger traffic witnessed an increase in 2023 to (4.3) billion passengers, and the African continent has a promising opportunity for the growth of the civil aviation sector .. as Africa’s share does not exceed (5%) of the total global traffic volume .. Although the population of Africa represents (19%) of the total population of the world .. while Egypt represents (7%) of the population of Africa .. and passenger traffic represents (5%) of the volume of traffic in Africa .. and African airports represent (10%) Of the total airports in the world .. which confirms that there are promising opportunities for the air transport industry In Africa . #aci #aviation #africa #egypt #cairo #airports

Egypt's #aviation capacity has trebled over the past 20 years, and places the country as the Middle East region’s fourth-largest air market, after the super hubs of Dubai and Doha and the large Saudi Arabian market. But #Egypt's 43% increase in capacity from 2019 to 2024 is markedly higher than its rise in passenger bookings. John Grant, writing for AGBI - Arabian Gulf Business Insight, looks at the challenges and competition for air superiority and asks - where next for Egypt's aviation market, and can it ever be profitable?
