1. Comfort and Familiar Environment: Receiving Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy at home can be crucial for a child's emotional well-being. Being surrounded by their family members and familiar surroundings can provide a sense of security and stability, aiding their recovery. 2. Individualized Attention: In a home care setting, children often receive more personalized and individualized attention from caregivers. They can tailor activities, routines, and care plans to suit the unique needs of each child. 3. Promotes Family Involvement: Providing Physical, Occupational, and Speech Therapy in the home encourages family involvement. Parents and other family members can actively participate in the child's care plan, fostering a strong family bond. This involvement can contribute to the overall development and well-being of the child.

The first paper from The Victoria & Stuart Project is now out in Palliative Medicine. The paper is about our big focus group study on end-of-life care planning with people with learning disabilities 🩺 This study was the second step in developing an inclusive end-of-life care planning toolkit for social care learning disability staff. Crucial to understand the perspectives of those involved in end-of-life care planning, including people with learning disabilities themselves. We learned so much from this study about how complex and nuanced end-of-life care planning with people with learning disabilities is. Have a read: https://lnkd.in/dZfarvBS

AES Ohio supports Rebuilding Together Dayton's mission to help older adults remain safe, healthy, and independent in their own homes and communities. All together, we're working to promote health equity and improve housing outcomes for our neighbors in economically distressed communities. Through our grant for Seasonal Safe@Home, we're supporting Rebuilding Together Dayton in empowering older adults to age in place safely and independently. With a focus on seasonal-based repairs, volunteer and homeowner education, and volunteer [Re]Build opportunities, Seasonal Safe@Home is making a significant impact. Did you know? According to a recent study by the AARP, nearly 90% of older adults prefer to stay in their current homes as long as possible. Aging in place is not only their preference but also more cost-effective than nursing homes and assisted-living facilities. Join us in championing seniors' independence and supporting our community's well-being. Learn more at: https://lnkd.in/dQVmkYk

Let there be a paradigm change in our approach to the management of neurodivergent children. The conventional, and hence most prevalent, model for helping them is suboptimal. Let “Early Intervention with a difference” be out punchline- in words as well as spirit. Cross disability center should be a norm, rather than an exception. Key components of our centers for helping these special children should be Parent centric, believe in Social model of disability rather than purely medical model, focus on Habilitation & Rehabilitation, provide all services under one roof and essentially have a preparatory school.

🧠 We emphasize the principle of "salience" with our Vivistim-trained therapists because we know a key to increasing neuroplasticity for stroke survivors is ensuring therapy tasks are relevant enough for the brain to respond. Occupational therapists and physical therapists are always encouraged to upgrade or downgrade tasks to provide variability and maintain patient engagement throughout high-repetition Paired VNS Therapy.
