I attended the ForbesBLK Summit! The opportunity to hear from and meet with creators, DEI (I said it) leaders from ALL spaces and the future generation of leaders. I am walking away with: 1. Without community we don't get far 2. Resources are meant to be shared 3. Learn about Project 2025 4. Black folks make up nearly 14% of the US population. We have 1.7 billion dollars in spending potential--- so look at where I'm spending 6. "Educating yourself about the business you want to be in" Jermaine Dupri 7. I’m really excited to be part of this event! What makes this even more special is this is me representing, well, my firm The Art of Planning, PLLC From 2016-2023 I spoke in front of a TON of people- but that was for someone else. I hope that you will sign up and hear more about what Vanilla is doing in the fintec space. As an Estate Planning Attorney, emphasis on the planning, my clients want to see a visualization of the concepts beyond my extremely effective “chopsticks and matchbox with a briefcase” approach. (IYKYK) This is the software I use with Financial Advisors when they bring me in to consult on cases to allign with whatever planning software they are using ie Envestnet | MoneyGuide naviplan or RightCapital Combine that with effective storytelling to explain the concepts and the clients “get it”. The software is another tool in the toolbox. I hope you log in for the stories and examples I give during this session, because “stories” are the best tools in the tool box.

With September 30th just around the corner, we're rapidly approaching the fiscal year's end. By now, most organizations have a clear picture of how the year might conclude, barring any year-end negotiations. It's evident where the opportunities lie. As the calendar page turns to October 1st, there's a common tendency to slow the pace, gearing up for MLK Day to mark the unofficial commencement of our business development endeavors. And true, that might be when more doors begin to swing open and strategy briefings commence. But remember, it's the dedicated and intentional groundwork we lay before this date that truly makes the difference. Effective planning means deep dives into various arenas: pinpointing key targets, refining outreach methodologies, understanding funding streams, and ensuring we're backed by solid, actionable data. Don't go sleeping on Q1--it's the water today that shows fruit tomorrow.
