"A passion for excellence, safety, and efficiency. Perceptive and discerning in both verbal and non-verbal communication. Leading with a growth culture mindset that inspires employees and strengthens leadership." "20 years experience as forklift operator. 25 years in landscaping. 15 years in the restaurant business, including time in management." "Hey Christopher! You have been nominated as one of 2024's Most Influential Chief Learning Officers...." Oh wow! What an unexpected surprise. "...you can claim this nomination for the nominal fee of $2500." Ahhhh....I see what you did there. *delete* Recognition is a powerful motivator, and can be used to bring out the best in people around you. However, when recognition is insincere or comes with strings attached, you'll lose any temporary gains it created. Furthermore, you'll erode trust, damaging the relationship and driving performance far below the level it was at when you started. So, make time and be intentional about recognizing people for all the great work they do. However, check your motives and make sure you're not trying to slip in a hidden agenda, or it will come back to bite you.

Say what you will about how the business principles at a fast food organization doesn’t apply to your business, but the key idea here is “if you want your people to succeed, you have to train them”. This seems to be particularly true for those CEO’s, BOD’s, and owners who want a technology “quick fix” for Cyber threats, rather than realize the true Achilles Heel in their organization is people and the lack of persistent, and quality, training.
