Composition: ColMA: Derived from collagen, which is a major protein found in the extracellular matrix (ECM) of various tissues in the body. Collagen provides a natural environment for cells, making it a popular choice for bioinks. GelMA: Created by modifying gelatin that makes GelMA more cost-effective than using pure collagen. GelMA bioinks can mimic the mechanical properties of various tissues depending on their gelatin concentration. Mechanical Properties: ColMA: It offers biocompatibility and the potential to replicate the natural ECM's mechanical properties. It’s often softer and more flexible, resembling the properties of tissues. GelMA: It has tunable mechanical properties. This versatility makes GelMA suitable for various tissue types, including those that require both soft and stiff environments.
