Learn more about his journey below! Q: What kind of jobs have you worked in Manufacturing? Robby: Manual Machinist, CNC Machinist, and a Shop Foreman at Cuevas Machine Company Q: What made you want to get into Manufacturing? Robby: My brother was a machinist, and I was offered a Vocational Scholarship to Pearl River. Q: What is something you think most people don’t know or understand about the Manufacturing Industry? Robby: What all has to happen and take place to manufacture things from raw material. The design of how things work together on paper to being able to make it work in real life. The people that make the parts are just as important as the people engineering them. Q: What is your favorite aspect of your job? Robby: I would say my favorite aspect now is teaching students how to manufacture parts and design their own things to build. Q: What advice would you give someone who is interested in working in the Manufacturing industry? Robby: You never stop learning. Today was an exciting day for my class at Accelerated Training in Defense Manufacturing as we are finally completing our Mill portions of our curriculum and moving to our introduction to Lathe. This also marks 6 weeks till graduation which is extremely exciting as well! The program so far has been trying but excellent. Leaving our milling machines feeling like we have a more then great understanding of all of the functionality including setup, operation and hand programming. Super excited to experience the magic we can create on Lathe. Here’s to the next 6 weeks and learning new things proficiently.
