PCCI In The News: Harvard Business Review This story in Harvard Business Review summarized by the TEACHING HOSPITALS OF TEXAS, includes PCCI's contribution to Parkland Health's pediatric asthma mitigation program: "Parkland Health, the county hospital for Dallas, Texas, has been a pioneer in using predictive analysis to improve quality. For instance, its Parkland Center for Clinical Innovation developed a computer model to assess the risk of illness in children with asthma in six targeted Dallas zip codes. That model used EHR data to flag children at risk of deterioration and to prompt primary care interventions and home visits. Costly asthma-related inpatient admissions were cut by half for 93,000 children." https://lnkd.in/gTZcyJCh

Excellent article by Ben Allen. TY for sharing the learnings from a system I have always looked to as a north star. "They did a 1 year public engagement to understand the needs of the community." This should be the starting point of any system re-design. Understanding the needs of the community & people being served ➡ People-centred design - not system-centred design = greater chance of success sustainability.

The Nuka system of care, run by the Southcentral Foundation in Alaska, has been described as "the best primary care system in the world". It has sustained its outstanding outcomes for the past 25 years. In this analysis, Ben Allen GP explains that it wasn't just a change in the process of care but a whole different way of thinking about care: https://lnkd.in/e4BE_hvr Source of graphic: Doug Eby Southcentral Foundation

Health Equity l Healthcare Workforce l Social Impact l Strategy l Systems Design l Cross-Sector Collaborator
Thank you Clare Nolan for sharing the findings from the California Association of Public Hospital's Safety Net Institute report on their Racial Equity Community of Practice. The report illuminates the transformative power of leadership in advancing health equity. As the Assistant Deputy Secretary of Healthcare Workforce at the California Labor & Workforce Development Agency, I'm inspired by the commitment of our public health systems to deepen their understanding of racial equity. This initiative underscores the need for strong leadership and continuous learning in our journey towards a more equitable healthcare delivery system in CA. My big takeaways: 1) invest time and effort into building a shared understanding of what we mean by racial equity; and 2) racial equity must be consciously embedded into organizational priorities and strategies. #healthequity #racialequity #transformativechangeinhealthcare

Excellent news very well done.
I’m really happy to update from my last post that Martyn Perkins and I both received an email from Isle of Man Public Health today. Great news that there has been some progress and we are getting closer with the additional legislation’s required and best of all funding has been allocated to take it forward. At this stage no date has been set which is disappointing however I do feel very positive that things are moving in the right direction now. Thank you Public Health Isle of Man for the update.
