New research shows that Gen Z and Millennials comprise 80% of all gym-goers and more than half of Gen Zers are taking vitamins or supplements at least once a week. Those stats are some of the reasons we're energized by our recent investments in ZBiotics and Grüns. Driving those growth projections are Millennials and Gen Z, who are leading the next chapter in wellness with a renewed focus on health and a demand for personalized fitness experiences, according to a new report from Future Market Insights. According to the report, those in the 20 – 40 age range are eager to develop healthy lifestyles and are more wellness-focused than the generations before them. One study even suggests that 40% of Millennials and Gen Zers may live to be 100, so they figure to be around for a while as key consumers. Overall, the Future Market Insights findings spell good news for the fitness and wellness industry, especially with regard to boutique fitness and personal training, two areas tipped for sustained growth over the next decade. 💡 What I learned from designing a social media platform that enhances Curefit - house of cult's fitness experience: A HelloPM case challenge. Last week, I participated in HelloPM’s case challenge, where I had to design a social media platform that enhances cult.fit’s users' fitness experience. It was an enlightening experience, as I got to work on the challenge, present it, and receive feedback from industry experts. While I was able to earn the runner up spot, I also learnt some important lessons. At HighRadius, one of our core values is “Fail fast, learn fast, fix fast”. Hence, here are some of the significant takeaways from this challenge: 👉 I should have connected with a cult.fit user to understand their needs and preferences better, as intuition alone was not enough. (I missed an important customer demographic - iOS users). 👉 I should have presented features as options, not as decisions, and left the final choice to the execs. I should not have assigned version numbers to each feature, as that implied that I had already made the final decision. Instead, I should have shown the pros and cons of each feature and left the decision to the CEO, who has the ultimate say on any new product. 👉 I should have included an FAQ page as a compulsory feature, not as a prioritized one. 👉 I should have improved the presentation of my solutions to make them more appealing, concise and convincing. 👉 I should have used data to justify my target segment. I realize that choosing to invest mostly on people who were not already fitness freaks was a bold decision and required evidence to back it up. I should have shown some data on the size, potential, and behavior of this segment, and how it aligned with cult.fit’s vision and goals. That's it for now.
