The contribution which France made to the success of the American Revolution is well understood. But not everyone knows that the consequences for the French monarchy of involvement with the American Revolution in the war, since its victory was so promptly followed by the fiscal and political crisis which triggered the French Revolution Spain did not suffer the catastrophic after-effects that the war brought to its French counterpart. The American Revolution was, nonetheless, an important moment in the history of Spain and its empire, not only because the defeat of Britain altered the balance of colonial power in the Americas, but also because Spain’s engagement in the war interacted with political reforms and cultural changes within Spain and its American colonies. #effects

Why does America not have a day called 'French Day' Think about it? I am a H.S.H Prince Ray Mann Bourbon of the historical Royal House of Bourbon of France, I share the royal paternal male bloodline with King Louis XIV, the (Sun King), King Louis XVI, and with all of the Kings of the Royal House of Bourbon of France, Spain, Luxembourg and the two Sicilies. And yes, Marie Antoinette was my cousin. As a true son of France and of America, I am requesting that the American Congress of the United States of America create a day to honor France called 'France Day'. France was the first friendly country of the new United States in 1778. The treaty of Alliance between the two countries and the subsequent aid provided from France proved decisive in the American victory over Britain in the American Revolutionary War. The French navy transported reinforcements, fought off a British fleet and protected Washington's forces in Virginia. French assistance was crucial in securing the British surrender at YorkTown in 1781, and, my cousin King Louis XVI of France who was on the throne at that time, fully supported the French help which was given to America. The 1830s Revolutions in Europe Nationalism inspired people all over Europe to fight against kings and queens they no longer identified with. Several revolutions broke out in 1830 ; After Charles X was appointed king of France in 1824 and tried to ignore the new French Constitution, the French staged the July Revolution to bring in a new king , King Louis-Philippe I who restored power to the French. The Polish people revolted against the Russian rule of Tsar Nicholas I which is also known as the November Insurrection which took place from 1830 to 1831. The revolt was unsuccessful. A revolution led to the formation of the new country Belgium on August 25 , 1830 which resulted in the secession of the southern provinces mainly the former Southern Netherlands from the United Kingdom of Netherlands and the establishment of an independent Kingdom of Belgium. A number of revolutions eurpted in 1848 as well. On this day in history 08/14/23. In 1678 the Battle of Saint-Denis was the last major action of the Franco-Dutch War (1672-78). It took place on August 14, 1678, four days after Louis XIV of France had agreed the Treaty of Nijmegen with the Dutch Republic, but before he finalised terms with Spain. The battle was initiated by the Dutch and Spanish forces to prevent the French capturing the Spanish-held town of Mons, then on the border between France and the Spanish Netherlands. The result was disputed, as both sides claimed victory. France viewed possession of the Spanish Netherlands as essential for its security and trade and occupied much of it in the War of Devolution (1667-68). Having won its independence in 1648, the Dutch Republic preferred a weakened Spain as a neighbour, rather than an aggressive and expansionist France. As a result, the Dutch-led Triple Alliance forced Louis XIV of France to return most of his gains in the 1668 Treaty of Aix-la-Chapelle. Thereafter, Louis decided the best way to force concessions from the Dutch was by first defeating them. Spain and France agreed an armistice on August 19, with a formal peace treaty signed on September 17, France returned Charleroi, Ghent and other towns in the Spanish Netherlands, but Spain ceded Ypres, Maubeuge, Câteau-Cambrésis, Valenciennes, Saint-Omer and Cassel; with the exception of Ypres, all of these remain part of modern France. He was one of the foremost figures of the Enlightenment Era, and some of his writings include: "A Discourse Upon the Origin and Foundation of the Inequality Among Mankind," "Letters Written from the Mountain, "The Cunning-Man," and “The Social Contract." 2: On June 28, 1919, the Treaty of Versailles was signed in Versailles, France, to formally end World War I. Many of the terms of that treaty, however, became the factors that led to World War II (or were used as scapegoats by the aggressors of World War II). 3: On June 28, 1894, the U.S. Congress declared the first Monday of September as Labour Day in honour of American workers. 4: On June 28, 1838, Victoria was crowned as Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland. She initially became Queen on June 20, 1837, upon the death of King William IV. Queen Victoria ruled the United Kingdom from 1837 until her death on January 22, 1901. She was the last monarch of the House of Hanover, which ruled Britain from 1714 to 1901. On this day in history 12/04/23. In 1259 the treaty of Paris between English King Henry III and French King Louis IX ended 100 years of conflict between the Capetian and Plantagenet dynasties. In 1204, Philip II of France had forced King John out of continental Normandy, enforcing his 1202 claim that the lands were forfeit. However, Philip II had failed in his attempts to occupy the Norman islands in the Channel. Despite the 1217 Treaty of Lambeth, hostilities continued between the successive Kings of France and England until 1259. Under the treaty, Henry acknowledged the loss of the Duchy of Normandy. Regarding the Norman islands in the channel, the treaty held that "islands (if any) which the King of England should hold" would be retained by him "as peer of France and Duke of Aquitaine" (the islands came to be collectively called the Channel Islands, consisting of Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney, Sark and some smaller islands). The agreement resulted in the fact that the English kings had to pay homage liege to the French monarchs for territories on the continent. The situation did not help the friendly relationship between the two states, as it made two sovereigns of equal powers in their countries in fact unequal. Now you know.
