Artist, painter, thinker, tinkerer, entrepreneur, business owner, researcher, gardener, art collector, multi-interest hobbyist, history buff, culture enthusiast, and adventure-seeker.
I have been into a number of family business clients over the years. I have seen family dynamics at play with my own eyes, took lessons and a big education from every case, how family members and even founders get forced out, either by other family, or by the board. How things start out lovey lovey and turn sour in later years. How the family business grows and disappears. How some of the children start another business in the industry, how the industry, market, and business changes over the years. All a very important education and addition to knowledge, critical thinking, and strategy.

Building relationships is like having a favorite restaurant. It's not just about the Jollof; it's the connection, the familiarity, and the friendly chats. Similarly, in life and business, it's about understanding, caring, and creating bonds. It's not just transactions; it's about building trust and loyalty. So, focus on connecting with people, understanding their needs, and offering genuine support. It makes everything smoother and more enjoyable, just like that perfect plate of Jollof from your favorite spot! #HustleAfrica #NigeriansAbroad #ContentMarketing #DigitalMarketing #Storytelling #LagosEntrepreneurs #nigeriansinamerica #nigeriansincanada #nigeriansindiaspora #nigeriansinuk #lagosbusinessschool #lagosians #storiesthatsell #africanbusiness #lagosbusinesswomen #africanbusinessowners #storytelling #lagoscontentcreator #contentmarketingagency #marketingtech

Great People at a Great Company
When my wife Kate and I first started roasting coffee together we had no idea the journey we were on. It started as a love for the craft of coffee and sharing it with friends and family. The plan was to sell at farmer's markets. When I told her I wanted to start Fire Department Coffee she didn't love the idea at first but she has supported me and she's held down the fort and is a great wife, mom, and teacher. I love this picture because so much has taken place since then and we had no idea at the time. We were faced with many choices multiple times. She has trusted me to do the right thing. Starting a business comes with a lot of responsibility and it no longer is decisions that have to be made that affect just us and our family. We have a team and they have families. We are able to help people through our foundation. So with great responsibility comes an even greater opportunity to do more than roast great coffee. We are on a mission to build a company that will champion what it means to be mission-driven. We are on a mission to create opportunity, build community, serve our community, and hopefully inspire others to do the same.

#1 Goals & Grit Guru | Motivational Speaker | Best Selling Author | Positive Psychology Expert | TEDx speaker
Not long ago, our neighbors gathered around our firepit. I was excited to serve them my delicious homemade guacamole and deviled eggs, but I couldn't find anything special enough to use for serving them my homemade guacamole and deviled eggs. The following week, I visited my local farmer's market and looked for a local artist whose work I admired. She was almost always sold out of her bowls, trays, vases, and other containers. Luckily, Delaware Bay Clay had restocked and I didn't just find a gorgeous platter featuring lobsters, I also picked up whimsical salt and pepper shakers that will dress up our beach house's table. 🦞 Embracing the spirit of shopping local and supporting women-owned businesses resonates deeply with my values. I'd love to hear more about where others are finding small businesses. Do you have a small business you'd like to share with me? Let me know in the comments!
