We're pleased to announce we have secured our first Cyclops Earth Observation constellation customer, The Scottish Government. Our Scottish built satellites are set to tackle Scotland’s declining forest health 📲 https://bit.ly/4czRukg The Cyclops constellation will be made up of four satellites manufactured under the xSPANCION project. The satellites will provide high resolution image data enabling, amongst many other applications, the efficient monitoring of tree health. As part of the agreement we will focus on the analysis, including automation and integration, of image data into Scottish Forestry's Geospatial Information Systems (GIS) and operations. Given the long lives of trees, it can be surprising to learn that many trees in Scotland are at risk from pests and diseases. Whilst some trees can live for centuries, infections can cause them to deteriorate and die quickly. There is an environmental imperative to understand, scale, prevalence and distribution of stress, pests and disease in trees and wild plants across Scotland. #Scotland #foresthealth #treehealth #satellite #EO #constellation #spacedata #GIS #spaceisawesome #SpaceForABetterEarth #MakingSpaceForOurFuture
Great news that the Scottish Government will be procuring (and owning?) its own satellite, as part of a constellation. I hope this will lead to further private investment and collaboration on earth observation applications. Do you have any further details on the specification of the sensor to be flown?
Jayne Ashley, thought this might be of interest.
Hi Richard! Thanks for taking an interest. We'll own the asset and supply services. We'll reach out separately to discuss specifics.
