With a 300 crore investment, top transformer producer Shirdi Sai Electricals Ltd (SSEL) is about to open a new factory in #AndhraPradesh. The #facility in the YSR District will produce conductors and is expected to start #operations by the third quarter of the fiscal year 2024–25, according to Chairman and Managing Director N Visweswara Reddy.
The new facility, which will take up 8 acres and have a 300-ton yearly #capacity, is being built in two stages. According to Reddy, phase 1 of the trial #production is expected to reach a peak capacity of 200 tons in the first quarter of the following fiscal year, while phase 2 is scheduled to begin by the end of this month. Furthermore, he emphasized SSEL's participation in transmission EPC #projects, of which about half would be used internally. The remaining portion will be sold on the open market to meet demand from both domestic and foreign sources.
Reddy emphasized the strategic significance of this endeavor in supporting the availability of conductors made in the nation at reasonable costs, especially in light of the predominance of conductor imports. Originally founded in 1994 as a transformer #maintenance company, the SSEL Group has grown to become the largest transformer #manufacturer in #India, employing almost 5,000 people.
The group's revenue target for the current fiscal year is over Rs 5,000 crore, up from the Rs 2,680 crore it attained in FY 2022–2023.
