How many companies make it to 70 years? Most don’t even make it through 10. 70% of businesses fail within the first decade. For the other 30%, the odds improve if they can prove their endurance. If you’re familiar with the Lindy Effect, the theory goes that the longer you are in business, the more likely you are to remain in business. This year, Coatings Unlimited is marking its 70th year as a company. We were founded in 1954 by my grandfather, Fred Philipp Sr., and the company continues to operate as a family business, now with me as its third generation of leadership. And if the Lindy Effect holds true, I think that’s a pretty good testimonial to our staying power. Here’s to the next 70 years!
