Every year, A-dec dedicates an entire month to safety awareness—with a little friendly competition on the side. Our annual PIT Olympics (that’s short for “Powered Industrial Trucks”) is a precision-driving event where certified A-dec PIT drivers test their mettle maneuvering a demanding obstacle course. This year, more than 30 A-dec employees went head-to-head, facing task-specific challenges in four different kinds of PIT vehicles. It was a thrilling two days of competition. And a good reminder that some of the world’s most impressive Olympians are found right here in Newberg. 🏅 #Adec #SafetyMonth #AdecDental #DentalEquipment #DentalOffice #DentalPractice

Road safety is of the uttermost concern these days and being on the road means abiding by the traffic rules. And that is the purpose of the signboards that are put up by the roadside. But some rare ones are different from the usual ones to remind us to be extra careful while driving. Here is a list of a few rare signboards that you might have come across a lot but failed to recollect what it means. In support of @brakecharity’s Road Safety Week, we’re sharing some of the work we do to keep everyone safe on the roads. BEAR Scotland, Transport Scotland and Open Road Simulation, worked together on a three-year trial, completed earlier this year, looking at ways to improve safety for motorcyclists. Dedicated road markings were installed on the approach to demanding bends at 22 locations on trunk roads across the West Highlands. These road markings were designed as ‘Perceptual Rider Information for Maximising Expertise and Enjoyment’ (PRIME). They appear as a series of innovative ‘gateway’ markings to encourage more enjoyable and safer riding, designed to enhance motorcyclist safety on left-hand bends. The results of the trial showed that PRIME led to a significant reduction in speed, improved road position and enhanced braking behaviour. Since the implementation of PRIMEs at the trial sites, there have been no subsequent motorcycle collisions resulting in injuries. A further three years of PRIME road trials began this year in the North West trunk road at identified bend sites to further appraise their effectiveness. This low-cost intervention, tested and proven in Scotland, offers a blueprint for global road safety. @brakecharity #RoadSafetyWeek

The second day of the International Road Safety Congress focused on the other elements of the Safe System (beyond the policies dealt with on the first day): users, vehicles and infrastructures. In the first block of the day, an introduction to the Safe System was carried out by: 🔹Jonas Jansson (Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute (VTI) , Research Director - Dept. of Traffic and Road Users): ‘Driving in a Safe System’. 🔹Jennifer Carson (European Transport Safety Council (ETSC) PIN Director): ETSC PIN Report ‘Reducing road fatalities among powered two-wheeler users’. 🔹Dr. Veneta Vassileva (ACEM. European Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers, Director of Road Safety): ‘Safe riding into the future 2.0’. Step into the Safer Future The European Road Safety Day took place on May 6. At Yameo, we decided to utilize this date to strengthen our knowledge about road safety not only as drivers but also as motorcyclists, cyclists, or pedestrians. We have decided that May will be Road Safety Month in Yameo. Until the end of the month, we will be sharing knowledge, and each person in the team will receive practical gadgets that can be used in difficult situations (although we hope they will never be needed). The first item has already been distributed to everyone. It's an emergency hammer - a tool that can save lives in the event of a car accident. By using the hammer, we have a chance to effectively break the window in a matter of seconds, which is crucial in life-threatening situations. In fact, tests show that the hammer can do this in less than 10 seconds! Additionally, the hammers are equipped with a blade that allows cutting through seat belts when they are jammed. The culmination of the entire action will be practical activities in accordance with the expression Step into the Safer Future during our integration event. Stay tuned! #StepIntoTheFuture #RoadSafety #FirstAid #KnowledgeSharing

This simple thing with road markings (turn points) for motorcycles is a great success

Project PRIME in action! Currently analysing data from this year's road trials of PRIME road markings for motorcyclists - caught this run of bikes on camera - really great to see. PRIMEs (Perceptual Rider Information for Maximising Expertise and Enjoyment) help motorcyclists prepare for demanding bends with a dedicated road sign and bespoke road markings. Since 2020, across 22 trial sites in Scotland, we have found significant reductions in speed, positive changes in road position and reduced braking. This site is Mid Lix on the A85 between Lochearnhead and Crianlarich - its wonderful road for motorcycles but not without its challenges. We're now into Phase 2 of the work (funded by the Road Safety Trust and Transport Scotland) where we're running more trials through 2023 to 2025 and producing an installation manual to guide others installing PRIMEs on their own road networks. If you're interested in a copy of the manual when its ready (approx. Q1 2024) please make contact. #roadsafetyawareness #roadsafety #psychology #humanfactors #transportscotland #bearscotland #roadsafetytrust #visionzero #safesystem #cardiffuniversity #casualtyreduction

📣ACTION ALERT📣 We need your help to push NHTSA to consider cyclist safety! The League has prepared comments to submit to NHTSA on the proposed rulemaking on pedestrian Automatic Emergency Brake (AEB) standards, highlighting our dismay with their dismissal of cyclist safety. Let’s show just how broad and overwhelming the call for cyclist safety is across the nation. Take action TODAY by supporting our comment letter!
