It is possible to set up private campus networks locally on a temporary basis, but just like a permanent campus network, this requires centrally controlled regulation of the allocation of licences. The use of 5G in nomadic networks offers a wide range of applications in areas such as agriculture, emergency services and construction sites. Based on the white paper on the needs of nomadic networks and the BMDV 5G-ADirI project launched in 2024, a digital twin system for automated 5G frequency application/allocation for nomadic campus networks is to be designed and prototypically developed. In this panel, we would like to discuss temporal and territorial requirements from nomadic use cases as well as the potential benefits of such a digital system with market players such as network operators, manufacturers, integrators and research. The focus will be on technical and regulatory aspects. NextGen & 6G Forum Workshop - Korean Delegates This week, ATIS NextGen and 6G Forum convened a dynamic two-day workshop in Washington DC, bringing together industry leaders from North America and Korean delegates to explore the frontier of 6G technology.   Led by David Young, ATIS Vice President – Technology & Solutions, and Professor KyungHi Chang, Executive Committee Chair of 6G Forum, the workshop delved into wide range of topics, from U.S. Government perspectives on 6G R&D to standards development, sustainability, and the future of Open RAN.   My area of focus was the discussion on Societal and Economic Needs (SEN) for North America, shedding light on the pivotal role of next-generation technologies in addressing Digital Equity challenges. The exchange of insights, and experiences addressing Digital Equity in South Korea, Japan, and North America underscored the importance of collaboration in driving innovation forward.   As we seek to harness the transformative potential of 6G, this workshop served as a catalyst for cross-border learning and collaboration. Sweden’s public authorities should invest more to turn CES into an even better platform for Swedish companies, startups and innovators to connect and do business. And we should have a long term strategy for it (as well as for global events in general). If Europe is to take a larger part of the electronics market, especially regarding design and production we must also be more proactive in the consumer electronics and software space. CES is an easily accessible event with supringsingly many tech and industry sectors represented. Also research and academia. 130 000 people attended. I highly recommend going there. More than 100 Swedish companies were there and I think most of them got what they came for. The South Korean presence was impressive! As well as the focus on sustainability and electrification. AI and XR major themes as well. I had a lot of great meetings with Koreans and also many interesting XR enablers and startups as well as big tech of course. If we would decide that a Swedish booth is they way forward I think the Netherlands did a great job. Very visual and compact space, meeting tables, lots of companies and content (video below). The French institute of technology even had their own space promoting their deeptech.

Yesterday at #Almedalen, I joined an insightful conversation hosted by Techarenan'. Together with Håkan Jevrell, State Secretary, Regeringskansliet, Utrikesdepartementet, Judith Gough, British Ambassador to Sweden, Linda Nyberg, and Madeleine Sjöstedt, Director General of Svenska institutet, we explored how Sweden could continue to leverage its rich innovation resources to contribute to global scale impact. We touched upon Sweden's history of fostering strong innovation collaborations between the public and the private sectors. Håkan Jevrell strongly emphasized that 'the foundation of innovation is education. We will not be able to solve the challenges ahead unless we have successful education'. UNICEF Innovation has a fruitful collaboration with Ericsson for the Giga initiative. Launched by UNICEF and the International Telecommunication Union in September 2019, Giga aims to connect every school to the Internet and every young person to information, opportunity and choice. 70% of 10-year-olds in schools today in low- and middle-income countries cannot explain to us the text they read. This is a huge crisis for all of us, but also a huge opportunity for us to collaborate in shared purpose that an innovation lens to the challenge can bring bold change.
