Jeff Bezos doesn't like the phrase "work-life balance." In a 2018 interview with Mathias Döpfner, the CEO of Axel Springer, Bezos said he views work and life as a circle rather than something to be balanced. "I get asked about work-life balance all the time. And my view is: That's a debilitating phrase because it implies there's a strict trade-off." Personally over 50 years working, I ve seen many examples of each of work and “life” over or under done, and what not enough work, not enough recognition not enough money or the reverse, excessive unearned position, discretion in how to allocate one s time, and more than adequate funding for whatever discretionary or whims an entitled person just “ got”. I m just very glad that my mom and dad did not give any of us more than our share for education and all of the support that a family can give on limited incomes. They say “It builds character”.

It seems to me that it works a bit differently when we compare salaried C-Suite executives and normal workers. Seems like "work-life balance" has a very different meaning in these two situations. I think it's important to take what Jeff Bezos is saying and to properly contextualize it.
