It is clear that the best way for Telcos to further monetize their networks (especially 5G) is by exposing network level capabilities via API to third-party developers, thus giving way to the birth of a new generation of Network-aware applications. Developers will have further control at the network level to ensure their applications can react dynamically according to specific needs (e.g imagine a surveillance drones that needs to send a 4K image/video back to the server, and can acquire the appropriate level of bandwidth temporarily from the network with just an API call). History has shown that when developers are given some level of freedom to play and fiddle around in a "self-service" manner (like they currently do with Cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP etc..) then they can produce innovative things that could truly change an industry. Looking forward to what will be showcased in the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 😎

What is the best place to organize a Quantum Internet Hackathon? This question might seem equally ridiculous no matter whether you are acquaintances with the topic or not. Fortunately, a perfect answer was given by Quantum Internet Alliance (QIA) which recently organized the third edition of the Pan-European Quantum Internet Hackathon. This outstanding event was organized in a distributed manner following the idea of a global network of interconnected nodes. In the Pan-European Quantum Internet Hackathon 2024, which took place on 15-16 February, teams located at four nodes Delft NL, Paris FR, Dresden DE, and Poznań PL collaborated to solve challenges related to the future #QuantumInternet functioning. My personal experience was to join the node organized in Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center / Poznańskie Centrum Superkomputerowo-Sieciowe (PCSS) by Piotr Rydlichowski. Together with Mikołaj Czechlewski (University of Gdansk), Mateusz Dyrda (Stowarzyszenie Robotyków SKALP), Leonard Sikorski (University of Gdansk), and Jakub Małdrzykowski (Politechnika Wrocławska) we formed ‘’The Quantum Train Team’’ (as each of us used the railway to get to Poznań 😉). After establishing the connection with other nodes and welcome reception our team decided to solve the problem of secure quantum digital payments using the SquidASM framework. But this was just the beginning… Telling a long story short, a bit of focus, a pinch of new knowledge, a little work but certainly the greatest people, and a lot of fun, these are the things that made the event a massive success for me. Solving the task to the very end is always satisfying, but getting entangled with such a great community feels to be even more rewarding. Indeed, this is exactly the point at which I want to thank my teammates who made solving the challenge a playful time, other teams that presented alternative points of view, the organizers who gave us the opportunity to meet and collaborate, and in particular Piotr Rydlichowski and Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center / Poznańskie Centrum Superkomputerowo-Sieciowe (PCSS) who hosted us in Poznań. Certainly, Quantum Internet Hackathon 2024 was a unique experience, and despite some time has passed, the positive emotions shared during the #hackathon are still alive. Honestly, I can't wait to participate in the next quantum events thrown by Quantum Internet Alliance (QIA) or Poznan Supercomputing and Networking Center / Poznańskie Centrum Superkomputerowo-Sieciowe (PCSS), paving the way to the future #QuantumInternet. #QuantumTechnology, #QuantumComputing, #QuantumSoftware, #QuantumCommunication
