3 Keys to Online Fundraiser Success You can raise money for yourself, your nonprofit or business by following a few simple steps: 1. Do a livestream - share the story behind your campaign, have other people share their stories that are featured in the campaign. You can then repurpose this content into short audio and video clips for additional social media postings. This livestream can be as short or as long as you'd like. 2. Try a Facebook Auction - auction off photos, artwork, etc... by creating a Facebook Album. Post the photos of the items and accept bids on Facebook. This is a quick way to raise some fast money. 3. Collaborate with others for social media posting, encourage others to send direct messages and emails out to friends, family and colleagues. We want to be transparent with you for a moment. We know this time of year we talk about Big Night, a lot. We hope you love Big Night but maybe you are not interested in Big Night, or maybe you don't know what it is. So, we want to take some time to explain why it's so important we get the word out about our cause. Big Night is the most crucial fundraiser for the JCC each year. On the surface, Big Night is a party. But below the surface it's so much more. With the dollars raised during Big Night we are able to sustain the annual programs that make the JCC what it is. If you have ever entered our doors, you have benefited from the money we raise at Big Night every year. Without Big Night, we wouldn't be able to provide as many scholarships to members or families who rely on our programs every day. Without Big Night, we wouldn't be able to make as many accommodations to make the JCC more accessible and inclusive. Without Big Night, we wouldn't be able to house as many dozens of clubs, programs, and meetings that take place at our JCC seven days a week. Without Big Night, our event wouldn’t be the cornerstone of connections, engaging people who are new to our Pittsburgh community, the very people who you have become great friends with via the JCC. Without Big Night, our JCC wouldn't be what it is. A place where everyone can feel like they belong. We want to continue this important work, but we need your help to do it. Whether it's through an annual donation of any amount, purchasing event tickets or raffle tickets, buying something in our silent auction, or becoming an annual sponsor, your involvement makes a difference. A consistent issue I see with new Gala planners? They want to be creative. 𝙏𝙤𝙤 𝙘𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙫𝙚. “We’re doing a paddle raise at the end of a pub crawl!” One potential client exclaimed. I advised against it. Creativity is great as long as you’re playing within the tried and true principles of executing a successful fundraiser. Here are the principles a pub crawl fundraiser breaks 𝟭) 𝗙𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁, 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘆 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱. The earlier you raise money in your program, the better. Tired and drunk folks tend to leave early, which is money walking out the door. 𝟮) 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼𝗻’𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗱𝗿𝘂𝗻𝗸 𝘀𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀. A buzz is great to help open the purse strings, but wasted people are a distraction during the program and don’t pay attention. 𝟯) 𝗔 𝗣𝘂𝗯 𝗖𝗿𝗮𝘄𝗹 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗮 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗲𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁. Partaking in a pub crawl doesn’t create a mood for giving. What does drinking have to do with your mission? Why should people care about contributing their hard earned money to your cause? CONSIGNMENT ITEMS Are they a good fit for your live auction lineup? There is no right or wrong, good or bad when it comes to consignment items. They can be the right fit for certain events and they are not the right fit for other events. HOW do you know if a consignment item will work in your live auction line up? You don’t, UNTIL you have meaningful conversations with your auctioneer, a representative from the consignment company, and the team responsible for planning the event. Each lens needs to be presented and listened to as they are all valuable. Ultimately it’s up to the non profit to decide if they pull in consignment items during the event. If we don’t have these robust conversations, we run the risk of making decisions that might not work for the non profit or the guests who are attending the event.
