💼 Thrilled to Share! 🎓 Just wrapped up an amazing experience with our start-up project "Salutem Systems" at the European Venture Programme (EVP). EVP, organized by the EuroTech Universities Alliance, provided us exclusive access to top-notch entrepreneurial guidance and networking across six leading EuroTech Universities: DTU - Technical University of Denmark, EPFL (École polytechnique fédérale de Lausanne), École Polytechnique, Eindhoven University of Technology, and Technical University of Munich. This program brought together 16 start-ups from various industries – from tech to healthcare, finance to sustainability. From immersive workshops to connecting with local start-ups and innovation experts, EVP took us on a journey across different ecosystems. It's like a fast-pass to new markets and valuable connections. Hats off to EuroTech Universities Alliance for making this fully-funded opportunity possible. The program finished last week, and we gained invaluable insights from experts in innovation and business creation. Throughout the program, we engaged in: - Practical workshops for building ventures 💼 - Exploring the latest strategies in business creation 📈 - Perfecting our pitches to grab attention 🎤 Enormous gratitude to mentors, coaches, and fellow start-ups who made this journey unforgettable. Are university spin outs good value for investors? With universities taking 20% equity stakes, complications over IP ownership, and academic founders more use to reseach budgets rather than the needs of private investment, the challenges on both sides suggest spin outs may be too complicated for most investors to live with. It suggests that spin outs need their own source of funding, and a special type of investor who understand and can live with the needs of academics - and some very deep pockets!

1087 new spinout companies since 2010 jointly from three Swedish universities! 🚀💫💪🍾🇸🇪 This week at ‘Sveriges Innovationsriksdag’ (arranged by SISP - Swedish Incubators & Science Parks - Thank you!) I had the honours to give a quick introduction to how Swedish universities work with academic research valorisation through commercialization and the creation of spinouts/startups. We work very very early with researchers to mature an idea into an investable company, often 1 to 3 years before an early new company is started. And we are really good at it. Together Lunds universitet Uppsala universitet Kungliga Tekniska högskolan we have pooled our numbers and between 2010-2022 we have helped found 1087 startups! Startups that need help to establish themselves and grow within the Swedish innovation ecosystem, including with the help from our incubators).
