However, with the looming threats of climate change, the maritime industry must undergo significant changes. Ports, responsible for about 2% of global CO2 emissions, are a key focus in the drive to reduce emissions. A recent survey by the American Bureau of Shipping and the American Association of Port Authorities found that 69% of ports have set decarbonization goals, but financial constraints, technology readiness, and equipment performance remain major hurdles. With over $50 billion in green energy projects already in progress, collaboration across international supply chains and significant investment are essential to achieving a zero-emission future.
